Beginning with "and," up to "the mind of intense attention," these sixteen words enable one to correctly grasp these sixteen aspects. What are the sixteen? In a broad sense, the sixteen aspects by which the venerable Śāriputra said one should listen to the Dharma are: listening to the Dharma at the right time, with reverence, with reverence while listening, without discontent, acting according to the instructions, not finding fault, placing reverence for the Dharma close at hand, placing reverence for the speaker of the Dharma close at hand, without contempt for the Dharma, without contempt for the speaker of the Dharma, without contempt for oneself, with a mind to know everything, with a mind to be one-pointed, listening attentively, with a mind fully focused, and listening to the Dharma after thinking with all one's mind. How can the sixteen aspects of listening to the Dharma be correctly grasped? Because of abiding in conduct that is in accordance with listening to the Dharma, the extensive saying of "a mind that abides well" arises, so that they can correctly grasp these aspects in order. The rest is not explained because it is easy to understand. What is the rest? From "a mind without discouragement" up to "the mind of intense attention." Among these, the word "a mind without discouragement" enables one to correctly grasp the aspect of "without contempt for oneself." Up to "if one attends, it is intense," it enables one to correctly grasp "after thinking with all one's mind." In this way, it is sown by causing it to be correctly grasped. Distraction, drowsiness, and sleep, that is, distraction, drowsiness, and sleep. In order to completely eliminate these faults, in order to completely eliminate the three faults mentioned above, the Blessed One said, "Therefore, listen and attend well and thoroughly!" This is said in order. Among these, the middle one is the worst of all. By what is it grasped? As its antidote, extensively...

Ignorance is the antidote to that. The Bhagavan, for those three kinds of people, in order to counteract, in sequence, with "Therefore, listen" made them truly enter into listening. Starting from "Pay close attention," he made them truly enter into being good and paying attention. The so-called "distinct establishment" is a vast arising. This distinct establishment should be combined with each of the aggregates, realms, and sources, etc., as previously shown. How to combine them? Aggregate distinct establishment, realm distinct establishment, source distinct establishment, and even faith's mind distinct establishment, that is the distinct establishment. All the defiled and purified dharmas of the aggregates, realms, and sources, etc., how to show the self-characteristics and common characteristics, as well as the undeceiving characteristics of cause and effect, is also the same. Completely showing the abandonment of clinging to speaking of self is also the distinct establishment of all defiled and purified dharmas, that is, the unheard becomes heard. As for abandoning desire clinging, view clinging, and moral discipline and asceticism clinging, it is not completely shown, because non-Buddhists also say to abandon these. As it is also said in the Sutra Pitaka, any renunciant or Brahmin who establishes abandoning and completely knowing desire clinging, view clinging, and moral discipline and asceticism clinging, but not the clinging to speaking of self. From the learners and non-learners, and even wishing and not understanding, etc., can also be obtained. The so-called "completely purified" means to become without defilement. Furthermore, why should one respectfully listen to the Dharma? The verses such as "This is" explain. How to do it in sequence? Obtaining right view, that is, the words "By hearing, one knows all dharmas" completely show it. Relying on higher moral discipline training, thereby truly transcending sins, that is, the words "By hearing, one can turn away from sins."

This word of action has been fully shown. If one correctly relies on the higher mind training, one can correctly overcome desire, and hearing will abandon meaningless things. This word has been fully shown. If one correctly relies on the higher wisdom training, one can correctly transcend rebirth, and hearing can attain liberation, this word has been fully shown. Moreover, affliction is the cause of harm, but desire is not the cause of harm. As it is said: For example, this is some people, etc., from the extensive explanation, until "those whose desires have become meaningless will be completely abandoned," it has been immediately shown. Through these four words, the four ways of obtaining the benefit of obtaining the right view, etc., are fully shown in order. Also, the four benefits are fully shown. The first word is obtaining faith. The second word is renunciation. The third word is the extensive explanation from the order of guarding the doors of the senses, etc. The fourth word is the extensive explanation of the noble truths. It should be confirmed by the Sutras such as Nyagrodha. How to confirm it? Nyagrodha, in this world, the teacher, the Thus-gone One, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, the Sugata, the knower of the world, the unsurpassed charioteer who tames beings, the teacher of gods and humans, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, appears in this world, and his Dharma is good in the beginning, good in the middle, good in the end, good in meaning, good in words, unmixed, completely pure, completely white, and the Brahmacarya is correctly and thoroughly explained. If a householder or a son of a householder hears this Dharma, after hearing this Dharma, he obtains faith. He is endowed with this faith, and learns as follows: Living at home is a fearful place of dust, but renunciation is an opportunity. A householder, living at home, until the end of his life, to practice the unmixed, completely perfect, completely pure, completely white Brahmacarya is not easy. Even if I have a lot of wealth and property
