also has obstruction. Answer: Saying "one form aggregate," that is, among the ten realms of the five faculties and five objects, one aggregate, that is, the realm of the eye, the form aggregate is the only visible one. In order to explain the meaning of visibility, it is said that "the realm is visible," that is, in the realm or place, anything that can be seen with the eyes is called visible. That is, the realm of the eye aggregate, the form aggregate is this form in this place. Because it can be seen with the eyes, it is called visible. How many are invisible? It means, among the eighteen realms, how many are invisible to the eyes? "The rest are," meaning that the realm of the eye, form, is the only visible one, and the remaining seventeen aggregates are invisible. What are the seventeen? That is, on top of the nine of eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, sound, smell, taste, and touch, adding the dharma aggregate makes ten, and adding the seven consciousness aggregates makes seventeen. These cannot be seen with the eyes as "this thing is in this place," so they are called invisible. How many are obstructive? Because it is talking about the eighteen realms, it means how many among the eighteen realms are obstructive? Obstructing and preventing other things from existing in the place where oneself exists is called obstructive. The object has obstruction, that is, the consciousness of the eye has no obstruction to form, but has obstruction to sound; the consciousness of the ear has no obstruction to sound, but has obstruction to form. The obstruction of blocking, that is, in the place where oneself exists, obstructing and preventing other things from arising and appearing. Therefore, there are three kinds of obstruction. Here, it does not refer to the obstruction of the realm and the obstruction of the object, but to explain that it refers to the obstruction of blocking, so it is said, "What obstructs what," that is, the obstruction of blocking is to prevent other things from arising on one's own side.

That is to say, whatever obstructs other things from coming towards itself from its own position, and also prevents other things from reaching there, both of these are called obstructed. The ten realms such as the eye are also called obstructed because they each obstruct other things from coming towards themselves. Although the sutras do not say that the ten realms are obstructed, it can be inferred that, adding the seven mind realms and the dharma realm, a total of eight realms are unobstructed. Why? Because they do not obstruct other things from coming towards themselves, they are called unobstructed. As for "how many are with outflows," since this is when discussing the eighteen realms, it means how many of the eighteen realms are with outflows. That which is associated with afflictions is called with outflows. As for "the fifteen and the last three parts," the five root realms from the eye faculty to the body faculty, the five object realms from form to touch, and the five consciousness realms from the eye consciousness realm to the body consciousness realm, these fifteen are all called with outflows, because they can never have a nature without outflows, but are always only of the nature with outflows. Furthermore, the last three parts are also with outflows. Here, only "three" is mentioned briefly. If "last" is not mentioned, then the first three also exist, namely the eye, form, and eye consciousness realm, these first three also exist, so the term "last three" is used. Among the eighteen realms, the last of the six bases, such as the eye, is the mind realm, the last of the six objects, such as form, is the dharma realm, and the last of the six consciousnesses, such as the dependent eye consciousness, is the mind consciousness realm. Therefore, the mind realm, the dharma realm, and the mind consciousness realm are called the last three realms. Just as the fifteen realms such as the eye are always only with outflows and can never have a nature without outflows, similarly, the last three parts are also only with outflows.

Not only that, but it also has the nature of being without outflows. Therefore, the last three of the portions with outflows are called having outflows. Among them, the mind realm, the dharma realm, and the consciousness realm that are focused on the noble path or belong to the noble path, and the four unconditioned dharmas of the dharma realm are without outflows. Apart from that, the mind realm of ordinary beings, and the dharma realm using the four unconditioned dharmas, therefore, the dharma realm of ordinary beings such as feelings, and the parts of the consciousness realm of ordinary beings are called having outflows, because these dharmas always exist together with outflows. Therefore, it is said, "Because afflictions arise from these," the fifteen realms such as the eye, and the parts of the last three, because afflictions such as desire always arise, these are called having outflows. Objection: The five faculties such as the eye, and the five objects such as form, and the five consciousnesses from eye consciousness to body consciousness, these fifteen are the nature of foolishness, and cannot distinguish the good and bad of forms, so how can they give rise to afflictions by focusing on forms? Answer: The consciousness realms such as the eye, merely focusing on the form related to the eye faculty, it cannot be said that afflictions will arise. Furthermore, it is said, "Because it is the object of direct perception," eye consciousness relies on the eye realm to directly focus on the form, thereby giving rise to eye consciousness. After eye consciousness experiences the object, consciousness arises and judges the good and bad of the form, thereby giving rise to afflictions, therefore these are called having outflows. Similarly, it should also be applied to the ear and so on. The so-called "How many are without outflows" refers to how many realms without outflows are there among the eighteen realms. The so-called "parts of the last three," the last three refer to the three realms of mind, dharma, and consciousness, namely the mind realm of the noble learners and non-learners.
