Therefore, it should be understood that it is not truly existent, but exists as a mere imputation. Greed and hatred cannot arise simultaneously. Either, due to the influence of ignorance and greed, shamelessness arises, that is, when taking what is not given and engaging in impure conduct, one acts without any restraint. Or, due to the influence of ignorance and hatred, shamelessness arises, that is, when engaging in actions such as killing, one enters into them without any restraint. This action is also the cause or companion for the arising of the six afflictions and the secondary afflictions such as deceit and cunning. In order to show the nature of shamelessness, one asks: What is shamelessness? This is asking about the nature and characteristics of shamelessness. The answer is: Not being restrained by others due to faults. In order to show shame first, because showing shame first makes it easier to understand shamelessness, therefore shame should be shown first. Among them, if one commits these sinful and unwholesome actions, worldly people will cause harm such as scolding, beating, and binding. Because one fears the scolding, binding, and harm of worldly people, one does not engage in sinful actions and has restraint, this is called shame. Even if one knows that worldly people will cause harm such as scolding, binding, and beating if one commits these sinful actions, but one has no restraint towards the scolding and harm of others, and engages in sinful actions, this is called shamelessness. This is similar to not knowing shame, and is also produced from the aspects of greed, hatred, and ignorance, therefore it should be understood that it is not truly existent, but exists as a mere imputation. This action is also the companion or cause for the arising of the six afflictions and the secondary afflictions. In order to show the nature of lethargy, one asks: What is lethargy? This is asking about the nature and characteristics of lethargy. The answer is: The mind is unfit for activity, that is, dullness. That is, when focusing on virtuous Dharma, the mind cannot understand the object to be focused on, nor can it clearly place the object to be focused on in the mind, this is called the mind being unfit for activity. In order to show the meaning of the mind being unfit for activity

Speaking of "lethargy," just as leather swells and becomes dull, the mind becomes dull, the mind is deceived, or the mind becomes unclear, which is lethargy. The nature of the unclear mind is called "sleepiness." This also arises from the part of ignorance, so it is not real, but should be understood as a designation. Its function is to be a companion for the arising of afflictions and near afflictions. In order to show the nature of agitation, the question is asked, "What is agitation?" It means asking what is the nature and characteristic of agitation. The answer is, "The mind is not calm." The so-called calm mind refers to calm abiding and one-pointed concentration. Whatever mind is distracted, the dharma that is not in accordance with one-pointed concentration is called the uncalm mind. This is also caused by desire, recalling previous laughter and play, etc., the mind is distracted, the mind becomes erratic, and becomes the cause of restlessness, which is called agitation. This also arises from the part of desire, so it is not real, but should be understood as a designation. Its function is not in accordance with calm abiding, because the nature of the agitated and uncalm mind arises, resulting in the absence of one-pointed concentration, so it is called the basis that is not in accordance with calm abiding. In order to show the nature of disbelief, the question is asked, "What is disbelief?" It means asking what is the nature and characteristic of disbelief. The answer is, "Not believing in karma, fruit, truth, and the Three Jewels, the mind does not believe, is disbelief, is the side that is not in accordance with faith." The so-called karma refers to the three types of merit, non-merit, and immovable karma. Fruit refers to the two types of pleasant and unpleasant. Truth refers to the four truths of suffering, etc. The Three Jewels refer to the three jewels of Buddha, etc. Not believing in the existence of karma, fruit, truth, etc., and not believing that the Three Jewels have merit, is called disbelief. The so-called side that is not in accordance with faith refers to believing in the existence of karma, fruit, truth, the Three Jewels, etc., and the mind that believes that the Three Jewels have merit.
