The view is called the view of the perishable collection. Or, among the five aggregates, one clings to the aggregate of consciousness as self. One clings to the remaining aggregates, namely form, feeling, perception, and formation, as belonging to the self. Such a view is called the view of the perishable collection. Or, the so-called self is not the five aggregates, but a permanent, singular entity that exists separately. The five aggregates are the support or abode of that self, therefore the aggregates are called the aggregates of that self, which is called the view of the perishable collection. Thus, for those who are deluded, afflicted, or ignorant, the view of self and what belongs to self arises. But for those who are without ignorance and possess wisdom, the affliction of the view of self and what belongs to self does not arise. Therefore, this view of the perishable collection is associated with ignorance, and because it manifestly clings to self where there is no self, it is called wisdom with afflictions because it is associated with perversion. It is said: This view of self and what belongs to self is not the view that self and things exist, but how does it manifest as clinging to self and what belongs to self in the five aggregates of grasping? Answer: Because it is stated in the sutras, this view of self and what belongs to self manifests as clinging to the five aggregates of grasping themselves. It is also stated in the sutras that whatever ascetics or Brahmins, or whoever, follow and see self and what belongs to self, they are looking at these five aggregates of grasping. Its function is to be the basis of all views. If the view of the perishable collection arises, then because of that cause, other views such as the view of extremes will also arise, therefore it is the basis of all views. In order to show the nature of the view of extremes, it is asked: What is the view of extremes? That is, what is the nature and characteristic of the view of extremes? The answer is: It is to correctly follow and observe permanence or annihilation by relying on those very things, that is, what is called wisdom with afflictions. The word "those very things" is connected with the five aggregates of grasping, and the view of permanence or annihilation also arises in relation to the five aggregates of grasping, therefore it is said "by relying on those very things." Or, the word "those very things" is connected with the view of the perishable collection, and the view of permanence and annihilation arises from the cause of the view of the perishable collection, therefore

Regarding that itself, it means that due to the view of the perishable collection, the five aggregates are regarded as self and belonging to self. "Permanent" here means constant and unchanging. For example, just as a snake sheds its skin, it is the view that after abandoning the body, the self still exists. The view of annihilation is that even when transferring from one life to another, only the five aggregates are abandoned, but the self is permanent, it does not perish or die, but remains constant, which is the view of permanence. For example, just as a tree burned by fire into ashes will not turn back into a tree, it is the view that after death here, the continuum is cut off and no other aggregates are taken, which is called the view of annihilation. To truly follow and observe means to hold firmly in that way, to think and discern in that way. It is those who possess ignorance and delusion who have views of permanence and annihilation. Those with wisdom who are free from ignorance do not have views of permanence and annihilation. Therefore, this view of permanence and annihilation is also because of possessing ignorance and mistakenly grasping what is impermanent and not annihilated as permanent and annihilated, hence it is called wisdom with afflictions. Its function is to obstruct what arises from the Middle Way. The Middle Way here means abandoning the grasping of permanence and annihilation and understanding dependent origination. The Middle Way certainly arises from samsara and obtains the path of liberation from suffering, hence it is called arising from the Middle Way. If one clings to permanence and annihilation, one will not realize the Middle Way, therefore it obstructs what arises from the Middle Way. In order to show the nature of wrong view, it is asked, what is wrong view? It means, what is the nature and characteristic of wrong view? As an answer to this question, it is said that denying the cause, effect, or action, thereby destroying existing things, is wisdom with afflictions. The word "denying" should be combined with each of cause, effect, and action separately. Among them, saying there is no giving, no fire offering, no good deeds, no bad deeds, is denying the cause. Saying there is no experiencing the results of those actions, happiness and suffering, is denying the effect.

English
It is called denial. To say that there is no this world, no other world, no father, no mother, no spontaneously born beings, is to deny action. There are three kinds of action. The three kinds of action are: causing to go to another world, causing to place seeds, and causing to connect. Causing to go to another world is to cause to be born in the next life after dying in this life. To say that there is no this world and no next world is to deny causing to go to another world. Causing to place seeds is to place the father's semen and the mother's impure matter, which are the cause of the body. To say that there is no father and no mother is to deny causing to place seeds. Causing to connect is when sentient beings are born spontaneously in lotuses, etc., or when consciousness is transferred to the mother's womb. To say that there are no spontaneously born beings is to deny causing to connect. To say that there are no Arhats in the world is to cause existing things to be exhausted. Thus, to believe that there is no karma and result, no action, no Arhats, etc., is called wrong view. Or, it is to deny the four noble truths. To say that there is no origin of suffering is to deny the cause. To say that there is no suffering is to deny the result. To say that there is no path is to deny the action. To say that there is no cessation is to destroy existing things. Or, the twelve links of dependent origination are divided into three: afflictions, karma, and suffering. Among them, ignorance, craving, and grasping are classified as links of affliction. To say that these do not exist is to deny the cause. Consciousness, name and form, the six sense bases, contact, feeling, birth, and old age and death are the seven links of suffering. To say that these do not exist is to deny the result. Action and existence are the two links of karma. To say that these do not exist is to deny the action. If ignorance ceases, knowledge will arise. To say that these do not exist is to destroy existing things. When ignorance ceases, action ceases, and so on, until when birth ceases, old age and death cease.
