. The three roots of non-virtue exist only in the desire realm, to show that they are not associated with the form and formless realms. Attachment, anger, and ignorance that operate in the desire realm are the three roots of non-virtue. It is said that attachment is the root of non-virtue, as well as hatred and delusion. The term "operating in the desire realm" means belonging to the desire realm. Attachment belonging to the desire realm, anger belonging to the desire realm, and ignorance belonging to the desire realm, these three are called the three roots of non-virtue. Attachment operating in the desire realm is called the root of attachment, which is non-virtue. Anger operating in the desire realm is called the root of hatred, which is non-virtue. Ignorance operating in the desire realm is called the root of delusion, which is non-virtue. Attachment, anger, and ignorance operating in the desire realm are themselves non-virtuous, and they are also the cause of other non-virtues such as killing, so they are called the roots of non-virtue. The afflictions such as attachment and ignorance in the form and formless realms do not look outward to the qualities of desire, but inward, and their afflictions are not the cause of other non-virtues such as killing, so they are not called the roots of non-virtue. All afflictions in the form and formless realms are called unstated. In order to show the nature of view. The question is asked: What is view? It means asking: What is the nature and characteristic of view? To this, the self-nature of discriminating, thinking, and examining this and such with wisdom is called view. There are also three types: worldly right view, uncontaminated view, and view with afflictions. Among them, the view that the result of karma exists, this life exists, and the next life exists is called worldly right view. The view of the noble ones who see the absence of self in persons and phenomena is called uncontaminated view. The view of the non-Buddhists who see the self as permanent, etc., is called view with afflictions.

Here is the occasion to explain afflictions, therefore, one should not discuss worldly right view and uncontaminated view here. It is for the sake of discussing the five views associated with afflictions, namely, the five views: view of the aggregates, view of extremes, wrong view, view of holding views as supreme, and view of holding ethics and vows as supreme. Although these five views are no different in nature from afflictions, the views are categorized according to the different objects they focus on. The objects that these views focus on are the five aggregates. The view of the aggregates sees the five aggregates as self and belonging to self. The view of extremes sees the five aggregates as permanent and impermanent. Wrong view sees the five aggregates as non-existent. The view of holding views as supreme sees the five aggregates as supreme and sacred. The view of holding ethics and vows as supreme sees the five aggregates as pure and liberated. In order to explain the nature of the view of the aggregates among the five views, the question is asked: "What is the view of the aggregates?" This is actually asking what the nature and characteristics of the view of the aggregates are. To this, because it is a dharma that is subject to destruction and impermanent, it is called "destruction," which refutes the view of permanence. Because it is not created by dharma, it is called "collection," which refutes the view of a single nature. In short, seeing the nature of impermanent and multiple entities as a permanent and single self is called the view of the aggregates. In order to explain what the view of the aggregates actually focuses on, it is mentioned: "To regard the five aggregates of grasping as self or belonging to self is a wisdom with afflictions." The five aggregates of grasping are the five aggregates from the form aggregate to the consciousness aggregate. "Following to see" means to definitely grasp. Therefore, the nature of the five aggregates is impermanent and multiple, so there is no self and belonging to self. For the five aggregates that belong to one's own continuum, one definitely grasps and sees as self; for the five aggregates that belong to another's continuum, one definitely grasps and sees as belonging to self.
