Therefore, engaging in non-virtuous actions through the three doors of body, speech, and mind is the nature of humans. And what becomes the antidote to this human nature, such as the four concentrations of the form realm, and the eightfold noble path, and the fruits such as entering the stream, are called the distinctions of the superior. Not attained means not having obtained those qualities, not having directly realized them. Even without having obtained those qualities, relying on having just a slight sign, thinking that one has already attained them, and being arrogant in mind, this is called the arrogance of thinking one has attained what one has not. To show the nature of lesser arrogance, one asks, "What is lesser arrogance?" The meaning is to ask what the nature and characteristics of lesser arrogance are. The answer is, "Because of many differences, one thinks that one is just a little less than the noble ones, and the arrogance that arises in the mind," this is called lesser arrogance. Some people are superior to others because of their lineage, intelligence, wealth, etc., while one's own lineage, intelligence, wealth, etc., are inferior to them. Then, for those who surpass oneself in various aspects such as lineage, one thinks, "I am only slightly inferior to them in lineage, intelligence, wealth, etc.," and thinking this way and being arrogant in mind, this is called lesser arrogance. To show the nature of wrong arrogance, one asks, "What is wrong arrogance?" The meaning is to ask what the nature and characteristics of wrong arrogance are. The answer is, "Without qualities, one thinks that one has qualities, and the arrogance that arises in the mind," this is called wrong arrogance. Generosity, discipline, patience, etc., the six perfections, are called qualities. For those who do not have these qualities, they are called without qualities. Or, those who have broken their vows and engage in evil deeds are called without qualities, meaning that they not only do not have qualities, but also possess faults. Without qualities such as generosity and discipline, one claims to have these qualities, or clearly having faults such as breaking vows, one does not think that one has faults, but rather considers oneself to have qualities. After acknowledging this, one thinks that one has qualities, is great, and the arrogance that arises in the mind is called wrong arrogance. Here also
