It is called the aggregates of grasping. Furthermore, just as a person who acts according to whatever command the king issues is called the king's messenger, so too, the aggregates that act according to wherever the nature of affliction, craving, sends them are called the aggregates of grasping. The five aggregates of grasping are the aggregates of form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness. Attachment is called attachment because the nature of desire is to cling like oil. For example, oil such as sesame oil penetrates into places such as clothing and spreads everywhere. Once it has spread, it is difficult to remove even with effort and great exertion. Similarly, this desire clings to its object of attachment, or clings to this aggregate, and if attachment spreads, it is difficult to separate even with effort and great exertion, hence it is called attachment. Attachment is also called attachment to the form of oil that is the cause, so to prevent the wrong view that oil is desire, desire is mentioned. Desire is to perceive the five aggregates of grasping as lacking and to be unable to give up anything completely. Therefore, oil only causes oil to cling to external clothing and so on, but it is not the nature of not being able to give up the five aggregates, so it is not called desire. Its function is to produce suffering, which refers to the five aggregates of the three realms. Among them, the desire of the desire realm produces the five aggregates of the desire realm. The desire of the form realm produces the five aggregates of the form realm. In the formless realm, there is no aggregate of form, but there are the four aggregates of feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness, so the desire of the formless realm produces the four aggregates of the formless realm. Therefore, its function is to produce suffering. To show the nature of anger, the question is asked, "What is anger?" The meaning is to ask what the nature and characteristics of anger are. The answer is, "It is harming sentient beings." Harming means being mentally harsh to sentient beings.

, thinking of doing unhelpful things to sentient beings, such as killing, beating, and binding, is called anger. Its function is also twofold: not dwelling in pleasure and serving as a basis for wrong conduct. "Pleasure" refers to happiness; dwelling together with happiness is dwelling in pleasure. Not dwelling in pleasure is not dwelling in pleasure, meaning always dwelling together with suffering. How does one dwell together with suffering? An angry person is always disturbed in mind, constantly filled with pain in their heart. Because the body follows the mind, the body also becomes painful. Therefore, in all activities, body and mind will dwell together with suffering. An angry person will inevitably commit acts such as killing and binding, so it is also said that its function is to serve as a basis for wrong conduct. To show the nature of pride, the question is asked, "What is pride?" meaning to ask what the nature and characteristics of pride are. All pride arises from reliance on the view of the perishable aggregate, clinging to the five aggregates as self and what belongs to self, even though they are without self or what belongs to self, and thinking that one's own aggregates are superior to those of others, thus being excessively arrogant. This is the characteristic of being conceited. Its function is also twofold: disrespect and serving as a basis for generating suffering. Disrespect refers to being disrespectful in body, speech, and mind towards the Khenpo, Acharya, and virtuous individuals who are learned and possess discipline. Among these, bodily disrespect means not bowing or prostrating with the body; verbal disrespect means not praising their qualities; mental disrespect means not rejoicing in them in one's heart and thinking of them as ordinary. Serving as a basis for generating suffering is also because the power of pride leads to the generation of aggregates in future lives. Although all pride shares the characteristic of being conceited, in order to explain that pride transforms into seven types due to the difference in the objects of pride, it is said that there are seven prides, namely pride, excessive pride, etc.
