It is also said that the pride that exceeds pride, the pride of "I am," manifest pride, small pride, and wrong pride. In order to explain the nature of pride among the seven prides, the question is asked, what is pride? This is asking what the nature and essence of pride are. The answer is, by regarding the small as small, thinking oneself to be great or equal, the arrogance that arises in the mind. It is said that some people are inferior to themselves in terms of lineage, knowledge, wealth, etc., while they surpass them in terms of lineage, knowledge, wealth, etc. By regarding the small in terms of lineage, knowledge, wealth, etc. as small, they proudly think in their minds that I surpass them in terms of lineage, knowledge, wealth, etc. This is what is called pride. Or, some people are equal and similar to themselves in terms of lineage, knowledge, wealth, etc. By observing this similarity, they proudly think in their minds that I and they are the same in terms of lineage, knowledge, wealth, etc., and there is no difference. This is what is called pride. In order to explain the nature of great pride, the question is asked, what is great pride? This is asking what the nature and essence of great pride are. The answer is, by regarding the equal as oneself being great, or being equal to the great, the arrogance that arises in the mind. It is said that some people do not think that lineage, knowledge, wealth, etc. are unequal in any way, and even if they are equal, they think they are equal, but they think in their minds that although I and they are equal in terms of lineage, knowledge, wealth, etc., I surpass them in terms of generosity, discipline, and skills, and I am greater. The pride that arises in the mind because of this is what is called great pride. Or, some people do not think that lineage, knowledge, wealth, etc. are greater than themselves, but think that I and they are equal in terms of lineage, knowledge, wealth, etc. The pride that arises in the mind because of this is what is called great pride. In order to explain the nature of pride that exceeds pride, the question is asked, what is pride that exceeds pride? This is asking what the nature and essence of pride that exceeds pride are. The answer is, by regarding even the great as oneself being greater, the arrogance that arises in the mind. It is said that some people's lineage and

If the owner is particularly prominent and powerful in terms of knowledge, danger, and wealth, then, even more so than the owner being prominent and powerful in terms of knowledge, danger, and wealth, is the thought that one is even more prominent and powerful in terms of caste, knowledge, danger, and wealth. Because of this, one feels self-satisfied in one's heart, and this is the arrogance that is even greater than pride. In order to reveal the nature of the pride of "I am," the question is asked, "What is the pride of 'I am'?" This is asking, "What is the nature and characteristic of the pride of 'I am'?" The answer is, "For the five aggregates of clinging, to truly cling to self or what belongs to self, and to feel self-satisfied in one's heart." Here, "clinging" refers to desire and attachment. Among them, attachment to the future body is desire, and attachment to the present body is attachment. Regarding desire and attachment, why are they called the aggregates of clinging? Because desire, with the cause of attachment to the future body, causes the taking of the future aggregate; attachment, with the cause of attachment to the present aggregate, causes the non-abandonment, holding, and taking of the present aggregate. Therefore, the two are called clinging. The aggregates that correspond to desire and attachment are called the aggregates of clinging. The five aggregates of clinging are from the aggregate of form to the aggregate of consciousness. Regarding these aggregates, in the absence of self and what belongs to self, one clings to consciousness as self, and to the other four aggregates as what belongs to self, and one feels self-satisfied in one's heart, thinking that the self that I know, others cannot know. This is the pride of "I am." In order to reveal the nature of superior arrogance, the question is asked, "What is superior arrogance?" This is asking, "What is the nature and characteristic of superior arrogance?" The answer is, "Without having obtained superior qualities, to feel self-satisfied in one's heart, thinking that one has obtained them." Here, superior qualities refer to the Dharma of gods, etc. In order to reveal the difference of superior qualities, human Dharma is further explained. That is, possessing desire, hatred, and ignorance, etc.,
