Therefore, to think of harming sentient beings and the place of suffering is hatred. Sentient beings are enemies, etc. The place of suffering is weapons, poison, thorns, etc. To think of harming is to think of killing. Non-hatred is not thinking of harming sentient beings and the place of suffering. Just as darkness disappears when light appears, non-hatred arises and hatred disappears, so it is called the antidote to hatred. This is actually referring to loving-kindness, which is loving-kindness that has entered into the aspect of benefiting sentient beings, and is called non-hatred. Or, non-hatred is also the antidote to hatred, and loving-kindness is mentioned to show that there are other antidotes to hatred. That is, non-hatred, which does not think of harming sentient beings and the place of suffering, is also the antidote to hatred, and loving-kindness, which has entered into the aspect of benefiting sentient beings, is also the antidote to hatred. The function of this (non-hatred) is to prevent evil deeds from being committed, and to be a support, that is, if non-hatred exists, one will not engage in sinful actions such as killing. In order to explain the nature of non-ignorance. The question is: What is non-ignorance? The meaning is to ask what is the nature and characteristics of non-ignorance. The answer is: It is the antidote to ignorance. Since ignorance has been explained before, in order to make non-ignorance easier to understand, ignorance will be further explained. Among them, not knowing the Four Noble Truths and the Twelve Links of Dependent Origination, etc., is called ignorance. Knowing the Four Noble Truths and the Twelve Links of Dependent Origination, etc., is non-ignorance. Just as darkness disappears when light appears, non-ignorance arises and ignorance disappears, so it is called the antidote to ignorance. In order to avoid thinking that all virtuous dharmas are the antidote to ignorance, and thus clinging to all virtuous dharmas as non-ignorance, it is said: To truly understand the truth. Truth refers to the self-characteristics and common characteristics of the Four Noble Truths, etc. To truly understand is to understand the self-characteristics and common characteristics of the Four Noble Truths without any inversion.
