Now, because it is similar to concepts, it is regarded as an obvious sign. The so-called "object" refers to the side that has manifested, which is called "this and this"; for the images of objects of knowledge such as skeletons, they are called "like this and like that" according to the differences in color and shape. The so-called "regarding as an obvious sign" is to understand it as such. As it is said in the section on meaning: "If one seeks desire, and the sentient being in whom desire has arisen, if those desires are not obtained, it will cause harm like a thorn." This explains that for those with minds, it may cause harm, then how can it cause harm to those without minds? Answer: In changing things, there is the term "becoming other and different." The skandha of form has been explained. Now the skandha of feeling is to be explained. Therefore it is said: What is feeling? There are three kinds of experience, namely pleasant feeling, painful feeling, and neither painful nor pleasant feeling, which is the definition of the so-called skandha of feeling. The so-called "three kinds" is the definition of three kinds in short. The so-called "experience" is called experience because of undergoing it. Or it is called experience because it causes it to be experienced. Pleasant feeling is when something ceases, one wants to encounter it, that is, the cessation of pleasant feeling is disappearance. Wanting to encounter is wanting to experience. Painful feeling is when something arises, one wants to separate from it, that is, separation is leaving each other. Wanting is obviously wanting. Neither painful nor pleasant is when it arises, one does not want both, that is, one does not want to encounter or separate. Feeling is classified by place, nature, collection of places, all defilement, and purification. Among them, the place is from the feeling born from the touch arising from the gathering of the eye faculty to the feeling born from the touch arising from the gathering of the mind faculty. The nature is pleasant feeling, painful feeling, and neither painful nor pleasant feeling. The collection of places is to collect in form and formlessness. To collect in form is the five consciousnesses and the feeling of the body that corresponds to it. To collect in formlessness is the feeling of the mind.

That is, it is the same as the consciousness of mind. Complete defilement is feeling associated with impurity, and abiding in attachment. Being associated with impurity is being associated with craving for the body. Abiding in attachment is being associated with craving for the five objects of desire. The five objects of desire are form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Because of wanting, it is desire, which means to pursue. Complete purification is being without impurity, and relying on manifestation. Being without impurity means being separated from craving for self. Relying on manifestation, manifestation is the path of exhaustion of outflows. The feeling that relies on it is the feeling that relies on manifestation. What kind of nature is that? It is the nature of experience. In what kind of experience, does one separately experience the ripening of the fruits of virtuous and non-virtuous actions? How does one separately experience it? The ripening of the fruits of virtuous actions is experiencing happiness. Non-virtuous actions are experiencing suffering. The ripening of the fruits of both (virtuous and non-virtuous) is neither suffering nor happiness, just like the alaya consciousness of virtuous and non-virtuous actions. The aggregate of feeling has been explained. After feeling, the aggregate of perception is to be explained. It is said, what is perception? It is grasping the characteristics of objects, which means grasping the characteristics of the object of focus. Some people are confused about this. If perception is grasping the characteristics of the object of focus, then the perception without characteristics, and the perception with characteristics, and the small perception, and the vast perception, and the infinite perception, and the perception of the realm of nothingness, these sutras are contradictory. Perception without characteristics is being unskilled in terminology, and entering the realm of no characteristics, and the perception of entering neither perception nor non-perception. Being unskilled in terminology is because one has not learned the name, so there is the perception of form, but one does not know it is form, therefore it is called perception without characteristics.
