What are the four great elements? And what is said to be one aspect of tactile objects, such as softness? Therefore, these eleven types of tactile objects should be understood as the tactile sense-sphere. The mental sense-sphere is the aggregate of consciousness, which is the aggregate of consciousness mentioned above, and should be understood as the mental sense-sphere. The sense-sphere of phenomena is feeling, perception, formation, non-revealing form, and the unconditioned. Thus it is said that the sense-sphere of phenomena is the eight things, namely the aggregate of feeling, the aggregate of perception, the aggregate of formation, non-revealing form, space, cessation through discrimination, cessation not through discrimination, and suchness. Thus, the three aggregates and non-revealing form have been explained. Since the unconditioned has not been explained, it is said here: What is the unconditioned? It is space, cessation not through discrimination, cessation through discrimination, and suchness. Whatever is not produced from conditions should be understood as the unconditioned. The opposite is the conditioned. What is space? It is the space of form. Because things appear very clearly in it, it is space. It should be regarded as merely the space of form. What is cessation not through discrimination? It is that which is not separated from cessation. That is to say, if there is no antidote to the afflictions, the aggregates will never arise. Non-discrimination is non-discrimination. What is ceased by it is cessation not through discrimination. This is a synonym for "not applying the mind beforehand." For example, when the mind is focused on one object, if other objects, such as form, cease, then the future eye-consciousness, etc., which arise dependent on that basis and object, even if they possess the conditions of cause, object, and dominant cause, will not arise because there is no fourth similar immediate condition. That which does not arise is cessation not through discrimination, and it is inseparable. Why? Because of the afflictions.
