Sound is the object, it is the separate discernment. What is the consciousness of the nose? The nose is the basis, the smell is the object, it is the separate discernment. What is the consciousness of the tongue? The tongue is the basis, the taste is the object, it is the separate discernment. What is the consciousness of the body? The body is the basis, the tangible is the object, it is the separate discernment. What is the consciousness of the mind? The mind is the basis, the dharma is the object, it is the separate discernment. In order to show the different names, it is said like this: "Mind and thought are also it." It is said like this. It is the meaning of the different names. Because it is various and the mind is Because it acts as a basis, it is said like this. Among them, because it is various, what is said like this is the mind, the various are the consciousness of the eye, etc., for the various differences of form, etc., as many as there are, it is a synonym for the form itself, etc. Therefore, arising from its source, it is called the ability to discern the realm, but it is not the source. It is called the mind as the basis, it is the six consciousnesses that enter and abide, as it is said: "The six that are immediately after cessation, any consciousness is the mind." It is explained like this, whatever and whatever is immediately after cessation, it is called the mind. For example, just as the son himself is called someone else's father, and the fruit itself is called someone else's seed, the fruits of the six consciousnesses that enter, those themselves, when they perish, at any time, when other consciousnesses arise as the basis, at that time it is called the basis. Thus, for the six consciousnesses that enter, the mind is shown. In reality, it should be seen: "The mind is the alaya consciousness." It is said like this. In reality, if the mind is the alaya consciousness itself, then the six consciousnesses that enter are not, how does this appear? Therefore, like this, this is called the accumulation of the seeds of all actions. All actions are all the defiled dharmas. They arise from four conditions, among them, the causal condition is the habit residing in the alaya consciousness. The adhipati condition is the six senses. The samananantara condition exists. The object condition

These are forms, etc. The order in which they arise is that the eye, etc., also rely on forms, etc., and thus the consciousness of the eye, etc., arises. Immediately after arising, the consciousness of the mind cognizes the objects. From discrimination, afflictions such as desire arise. In that, meritorious and non-meritorious deeds, as well as the characteristic of immovability, arise as actions of formation. Formation here is regarded as thought. When that action that has arisen ceases, it creates imprints on the alaya consciousness. Similarly, all defiled dharmas also create imprints on the alaya consciousness. All the seeds of imprints, from above and above, are the ground and mind. Just as the alaya consciousness is the cause of all defiled formations, so too are they the cause of the alaya consciousness. That alaya consciousness then transforms into two aspects: that which is called the cause and that which is called the result. That which is called the cause is the imprint. That which is called the result is the fully ripened, which is the term for that which is produced by the imprints of previous actions. Thus, it is to be seen that one arises from one cause. For example, the burning of a lamp and the burning of cloth occur simultaneously, and just as a spear and a house are at the same time, relying on each other and not collapsing, it should be understood that the cause of arising is the alaya consciousness. Why is it called alaya consciousness, what is its object, and what is its aspect? It is said that its object and aspect are uninterrupted. Is it virtuous or non-virtuous? It is said that it is not, but it is of the same kind, which is the term for the nature of being unspecified. Is it momentary or non-momentary? It is said that it proceeds continuously, which is the term for momentary. How is it known that that one nature exists? From scripture and reasoning, in the scripture the Bhagavan spoke in verses in the Abhidharma Sutra: The realm of beginningless time, is the place of all dharmas, because it exists
