That is how it is taught. Here, that which arises from discernment and samadhi is not elaborated further because it is easy to understand. The virtue and non-virtue of minds that are vows and non-vows lie solely within themselves. Its continuity arises because it is propelled by virtuous and non-virtuous minds, and because it is the fruit of virtuous and non-virtuous minds. Samadhi and undefiled vows are also virtuous because samadhi and the undefiled path are the cause, and the purity of right view, etc., are the fruit. Form is so because it is the object of body and speech, because the object is attributed to the possessor of the object. The invisible and unimpeded is not explained because it is easy to understand. Then, why is this aggregate of form, which is reached by non-discernment, called form? The Blessed One also said, "Monks, because it can be destroyed, it is called form, it is the aggregate of grasping at form." What is form? When touched by the aggregation of hands, etc., if it can be touched, it can be destroyed, and these were extensively explained. The sutra also says that because there is form when touched by the aggregation of hands, etc., it is form. What is the formness of form? It is the aggregation of hands, etc., that arises from the previous state to another state. This is also spoken of in terms of continuity, not in terms of a moment, because a moment is in terms of the time of arising and ceasing, because there is no abiding. The occasion is when the aggregate of feeling is taught after the aggregate of form, because it is taught after that. Therefore, when asked what feeling is, it is taught by saying, "There are three kinds of feeling." Experiencing is feeling, which is manifesting one's own nature apart from the joy, suffering, and both of things. Or, apart from the joy, suffering, and both, experiencing the nature of things, so it is feeling. It also has three kinds due to the difference in nature, namely, pleasant feeling, painful feeling, and neither painful nor pleasant feeling. If there is no pleasant feeling and no painful feeling, how can there be a third kind of feeling? This is evident from scripture and reason. The sutra says that there are three kinds of feeling.

Furthermore, having abandoned happiness and also abandoned suffering, it is said that it is neither happiness nor suffering. The reason is that there is no mind arising that is separate from feeling, and a mind separate from happiness and suffering is also not perceived. Experiencing contact is feeling, as the scholar Sangharakshita said. Whatever is experienced of contact that is desirable, undesirable, and the opposite of both, that is feeling. It is extensively said like this: Relying on contact that becomes the experience of happiness, the feeling of happiness arises. Because it generates happiness and so forth, it is for the sake of distinguishing them. If experiencing an object is indeed feeling, then what is the difference between this and those with the same object? Therefore, experiencing contact is established as feeling. If that is so, then perception, intention, memory, and wisdom, etc., should also not describe their nature through the door of the object, just like feeling. If it is thought that perception, etc., are distinguished from those with the same object by grasping at characteristics, etc., then why is feeling also not considered to be the experience of an object? Because it is impossible to have it as an object, is the experience of contact also similarly possessed? Or, if it is thoroughly examined as the entity of a cause? Among these, being similarly possessed is not possible, because all mental events are similarly possessed with contact, without distinction. Being the entity of a cause is also not permissible, because the cause of all mental events is contact, without distinction. In the world and in the scriptures, the sound of experience is not known as a result or a cause, but it is known as making manifest. One thinks like this: The ripening of the results of virtuous and non-virtuous actions is experience. Among these, experiencing happiness is the ripening of the results of virtuous actions. Suffering is the ripening of the results of non-virtuous actions. That which is neither happiness nor suffering is the ripening of both. Here, it is the all-ground consciousness itself that is the ripening of virtuous and non-virtuous actions. Ultimately, it is the equanimity that corresponds with it that is the ripening of virtuous and non-virtuous actions. Happiness and suffering are called ripening because they arise from ripening.
