The perception of absorption is to fixate on characteristics because it does not take the object as a characteristic. Here, because the characteristic is not clear, fixating on it is like the "barren woman," so-called absence of characteristics. Because it is itself absence of characteristics, it should not be called absence of characteristics. Otherwise, it would be an error of having perception, because without characteristics, there would be no grasping at characteristics. Small is the desire realm, because it is inferior. Vast is the form realm, because it is superior. Immeasurable are the realms of infinite space and infinite consciousness, because they are without limit. Because there is nothing that can be completely grasped, nothingness is the realm of nothingness. Therefore, focusing on the desire realm and so on is called perception of smallness and so on. After explaining the aggregate of perception, it is appropriate to explain the aggregate of formation, because it is taught after that, and therefore. When asked what formations are, the answer is: all mental factors other than feeling and perception, and non-associated formations, which is what it explains. Because all conditions are gathered and assembled, all phenomena included in the aggregates of form and so on are called formations. Here, what is included in the aggregate of formation is considered to be formations, because the aggregates of form, feeling, and perception have already been explained, and what is included in the aggregate of consciousness will be explained later. Therefore, although there is no difference between feeling and perception, contact and attention, and mental factors themselves, the reason for saying "mental factors other than feeling and perception" is that although feeling and perception are mental factors, because feeling and perception are included in the aggregates, they are not included in the aggregate of formation, in order to explain this. Feeling is the object of experience, such as feeling experiencing the ripened results of virtuous and non-virtuous actions. Perception is the basis for applying terms, perception can see, hear, distinguish, and recognize.

Taking these meanings as characteristics, for seeing etc., it is said to be seen, heard, distinguished, and recognized, which is a worldly saying. Therefore, feeling and perception themselves are considered as aggregates separately, while other mental phenomena are not. If touch and other actions related to mental phenomena other than feeling and perception, as well as non-mind-related acquisitions etc., are included in the aggregate of formation, then it contradicts the sutras. The sutras say, what is the aggregate of formation? It is the collection of six thoughts. If you say so, it is because it shows the main content, so there is no contradiction. Thought is the manifestation of the mind, which is the most important. Attention etc. follow it, so thought itself is called the aggregate of formation. Just like this, the mind also participates in good deeds, and also participates in the states of non-virtue, neutral, happiness, and suffering. Because it is like the aggregate of formation, due to not understanding the mental phenomena, the question is raised, and it is indicated by "which dharmas are in accordance with the mind". Because they do not understand these, they ask questions, and widely mention touch and attention etc. Touch etc. up to analysis, they also follow the mind in five ways: place, object, aspect, time, and substance are the same, so they are corresponding, so they are corresponding ones. In order to eliminate the error that there is no difference between mind and correspondence, leading to everything corresponding to all minds, it is said: among these, five are universal, five are determined by individual objects, eleven are virtuous, six are afflictions, and the rest are near afflictions, and four such as regret are also mentioned elsewhere. Among these, the initial touch, attention, feeling, perception, and thought, these are universal. These five dharmas follow all minds, so they are universal. Just like this, these are the virtues of the three realms and the uncontaminated
