There is no establishment. Thus, one should explain the time of dwelling: because it can prevent, it is prevention. What is the life faculty? Among those of the same kind, thrown by previous karma, whatever determines the time of dwelling of all phenomena is called life, because it can sustain life. Because it has power to dwell in the same kind, it is called faculty. Kind is the collection of sentient beings. Having the same share is the same kind, which is synonymous with "similar." Because of the same kind, it is the same kind. Among the different kinds that are different due to different realms and different karmas, whatever is the continuum of the aggregates of one lifetime for each is called the same kind. That is also thrown by previously accumulated virtue and non-virtue, as well as unwavering karma, which is karma-born. Whatever is called the determined time of dwelling refers to the entering of phenomena gathered by the non-different same kind as dwelling. The determined time of that dwelling refers to how long one can dwell in that same kind, whether it be a hundred years, a thousand years, or whatever period, that is the determined time of dwelling. Thus, it is explained that the nature of the determined time of dwelling is life. Its dwelling place is those where the phenomena with the ability difference thrown by previously accumulated karma are stable, with the Alaya consciousness preceding. What is the same kind? Whatever is the similar body of sentient beings, sentient beings refer to those included in the five realms such as gods and humans. What those grasp as the object of self is the body of sentient beings, which is either the five aggregates of close grasping themselves, or the nature of the four aggregates. Similar refers to the same. That is to say, different due to different realms, dwelling places, and bodies, the basis of the different realms, dwelling places, and bodies of sentient beings, whatever is the mutual similarity of the bodies of sentient beings, that is established as the same kind, thus it is explained. What is birth? Among the same kind, whatever phenomena arise from not having arisen, explaining the same kind, it is not only the arising of phenomena that is called birth, whatever phenomena become the same kind, those themselves arising from not having arisen are called birth, everything is

It is for the sake of showing that it is not so. In order to eliminate the desire of those who hold that the birth of things that have no birth and no destruction is to transform into other meanings and to establish time from actions, it is said that "arising from what has not arisen," that is, the nature of conditioned things arising from what has not arisen is called birth. It is not transformed into other meanings, nor is time established from actions. What is aging? The so-called "thus, the continuity of those changes," of which "thus, those of" refers to the conditioned things themselves that have become of the same kind. "Continuity changes" refers to the period from the existence of birth to the existence of death, during which the conditioned things that exist as cause and effect continuously arise, which is called continuity. The other and the object that has become other is transformation, such as from the time of tenderness to the time of freshness, and similarly, from the time of maturity to the time of old age. Each moment of the times of tenderness, etc., from the previous to the later is also called transformation. Thus, the change of continuity is established as aging, not a single moment, nor is it transformed into other meanings. What is abiding? The so-called "thus, the continuity of those is continuous," of which "thus" refers to one of the same kind. The continuity of the conditioned things until death is established as abiding, showing that it is not a single moment, nor is it transformed into other meanings. What is impermanence itself? The so-called "thus, those are the extinction of the stream," of which "thus, those of" refers to the extinction of the stream of conditioned things in one of the same kind, which is established as impermanence, showing that it is not every moment, nor is it transformed into other meanings. The extinction of the stream here should be understood as death. If it is certain that external form also has birth, aging, abiding, and impermanence, why is birth, etc., only spoken of for the stream of conditioned things of the same kind, and not for external form?
