There will be no turbidity. Relying on faith, the mind becomes clear, so it is called clear mind. Just like a jewel that clears water, other dharmas arising from the mind are also called clear. To show that it is not the nature of the initial form, it is said that the mind is clear, not form. That is the function of being the basis of desire. What is knowing shame? It is to fear wrongdoing from the perspective of self or dharma, meaning that relying on what to enter or leave certain actions, that is to take it as the main thing, which is a synonym for "master". Because the saints will rebuke and do not want unpleasant consequences, sin itself is a fault. Whether doing or not doing, taking self or dharma as the master, the mind shrinking due to that fault is fear. Through the merits of lineage and knowledge, knowing that one should not do evil, thinking how can someone like me do such evil? Or how can one tolerate doing it? And because it leads to unpleasant consequences and harms others, it is also rebuked by the dharma. Like this, whenever one looks at it from the perspective of self or dharma, fearing wrongdoing, that is knowing shame. This is the function of being the basis of correctly abandoning evil deeds. What is knowing embarrassment? It is to fear wrongdoing from the perspective of the world, meaning that the world will rebuke this matter, if someone like me does such a thing, they will be scolded, fearing wrongdoing because of the threat of not being vows, etc. This is also the function of being the basis of correctly abandoning evil deeds. Knowing shame will undoubtedly abandon evil deeds even if they are done, so it is the correct discipline. Knowing shame and knowing embarrassment will undoubtedly abandon it even if evil deeds are done, so it is the function of being the basis of correct discipline. Knowing embarrassment will correctly discipline even if evil deeds are not done, so these two are the function of being its basis, which is the precursor. What is non-attachment? For non-attachment, there are three meanings: non-existence.

And, other, and antidote. Here, it refers only to the antidote, and not to others. To show this, it is said, "the antidote to attachment." The same should be said for non-anger and non-ignorance. "Aversion and non-acceptance" means contemplating its own nature. "Attachment" means being attached to and desiring existence and enjoyment. Its antidote is non-attachment, which means not being attached to or inclined towards existence and the means of existence. "Aversion" means not being inclined towards existence and the means of existence because of fully understanding the faults of desire and enjoyment. "Non-acceptance" means not being attached to both existence and enjoyment. Alternatively, aversion is mentioned to distinguish non-acceptance, that is, the aspect of not being inclined towards existence and the means of existence, which is non-acceptance, is called non-attachment. This is the function of relying on not engaging in misconduct. What is non-anger? It is the antidote to anger, that is, loving-kindness. Anger means being universally tormented towards sentient beings and suffering and the dharmas that are the place of suffering. Its antidote is non-torment. There are other antidotes to anger, so loving-kindness is mentioned, that is, the nature of loving-kindness, which is the antidote to anger, is non-anger, and others are not. It is the function of relying on not engaging in misconduct. What is non-ignorance? It is the antidote to ignorance, that is, realizing what is true as it is. All virtuous dharmas are incompatible with the universal arising of afflicted dharmas, so they are antidotes. Therefore, it is said, "realizing what is true as it is," that is, realizing what is true without inversion. It is also divided into two types by difference, namely knowledge and individual discernment. Knowledge is also divided into four types by the difference of ripening, scriptural transmission, thought, and the cause of realization. Individual discernment is simply wisdom with teachings. "Teachings" refers to wisdom, diligence, and samadhi.

Therefore, the two components of wisdom cannot coexist, so the wisdom that corresponds to diligence or samadhi is called individual observation. By its power, even if the seeds of affliction are not removed or destroyed, the occasions of affliction are not distinguished. Here, the meaning of the words is this: the special wisdom that is the nature of knowing reality as it is, and the nature of individual observation, is called non-ignorance. Therefore, non-ignorance is the function of serving as the basis for not falling into wrong actions. What is diligence? It is the antidote to laziness, that is, rejoicing in virtue. The opposite of rejoicing in virtue is laziness, which is negligence. Negligence means not being interested in either virtue or non-virtue. Its antidote is diligence. Therefore, in order to distinguish between the tendency to go to two extremes like laziness, it is said that diligence is rejoicing in virtue, not rejoicing in affliction. Because rejoicing in affliction is reprehensible, it is laziness itself. Because one is very familiar with affliction, even if it happens naturally, why should one be happy about it? Although this is mostly the case, in some cases, it is also necessary to rely on joy. What does it correspond to? Rejoicing in armor, application, non-retreat, non-return, non-contentment, and other virtuous dharmas, this is diligence. It is the function of accomplishing and perfecting the aspects of virtue. Accomplishing is like entering the main practice. Perfecting is to practice it well. What is extreme pliancy? It is the antidote to defilement, that is, the ability of body and mind. The defilement of body and mind is non-pliancy, and the seeds of all afflicted dharmas, in order. If there is no defilement, then because there is extreme pliancy, it is an antidote. The characteristic of extreme pliancy is the ability of body and mind. Among them, the ability of the body refers to being able to handle the body's own actions.
