Why is that? Because in between, it mentions "emptiness" and so on. For example, there appears to be space between elephants, cows, and horses. If the space of the elephant were occupied by cows and horses, and the space of the cows and horses were also occupied by the elephant, then the space between them would also be occupied by them. Therefore, the space between them would also be occupied by both. Furthermore, in order to point out another flaw in that very thing, it mentions "tiny aquatic creatures" and so on. If all the objects of the eye, such as blue and yellow, were all grasped as one, then the tiny aquatic creatures would also have the same nature as large things like houses and hills, and therefore would not fail to be seen by the eye. Since a single thing has no difference in nature, it is unreasonable for the eye to see some things and not see others. When does this flaw occur? It mentions "merely by the difference of characteristics" and so on. If things are not considered different due to different places, different causes, and different times, but only the difference of characteristics is admitted to make things different, then these flaws will occur. Here, characteristics refer to the very objects of the eye and so on, and the very nature of blue and so on. Otherwise, the word "understand" indicates different places and so on. Therefore, now, in order to point out this flaw and conclude, it mentions "therefore" and so on. Because there are so many flaws in one view, the objects of the eye and so on, such as blue and so on, must necessarily be investigated as different atoms. How can it exist without flaws? It mentions "therefore, it does not become one" and so on, showing that the atoms do not become one. Here, it transforms, the objects of the eye and so on, such as form and so on, can exist, and that is enough for me, what is the use of establishing atoms? Therefore, it mentions "because it is not established" and so on. If atoms are not established, then form and so on will also not be established as the very objects of the eye and so on, therefore, there are no objects, only the manifestation of consciousness, that is the conclusion. Here is the summary.

Therefore, in order to refute the opponent's view, it is mentioned "by reason of valid cognition" and so on. The statement "this exists, this does not exist" is distinguished by valid cognition. Among all valid cognitions, direct perception is the most excellent. Because direct perception can dispel all doubts, even without a proximate cause, direct perception is the most excellent. But someone might think, so what? Therefore, it is mentioned "if that object does not exist" and so on. If external objects do not exist, then how does the thought "form, sound, etc., are my direct perception" arise? This is thinking about this question. According to others' views, if form, etc., are not experienced by direct perception, then how does the thought "form, etc., are my direct perception, I see form, etc." arise? To answer this question, the treatise writer says: "Direct perception is like dreams, etc." For example, in dreams, etc., even without a real object, the thought "this is my direct perception" arises. Similarly, this consciousness appears as an object, but in reality, there is no object, which has been explained before. To further argue this point, it is mentioned "at that time why" and so on. To explain this in detail, it is mentioned "when this" and so on. When the thought arises about "this is the object seen by my direct perception," this thought arises in the third moment, at that time your object will not appear. Why? It is mentioned "consciousness" and so on. Because consciousness will differentiate in the third moment, and the eye consciousness has already ceased at that time. Therefore, at the moment of differentiation, how do you consider the object to be direct perception? This is because, when the sense consciousness sees form, etc., it does not differentiate, and it has already ceased at that time, so it cannot grasp the object. And the consciousness that can completely differentiate does not grasp the self-nature of the object, therefore, how can the object become direct perception at that time?
