For dharmas, clinging to the nature of the grasping and the grasped is clinging to the self-nature of the grasping and the grasped, therefore they are without self. The inexpressible realm of the Buddhas is also not non-existent. That is to say, for those who have not seen Suchness, they cling to dharmas as the reality of the grasping and the grasped, those things are not there. Their other-dependent and perfectly established nature is the realm of the Tathagata's wisdom, which is not non-existent, thus it will be shown. Therefore, the term "dharma-no-self" should not be understood merely as non-existence, but should distinguish the place to which it refers. Just like this, apply this word separately like this: the reality of the other-dependent and perfectly established, which is separated from the self of the nature of the grasping and the grasped, that is no-self. Its reality is no-self. The no-self of dharmas means that in the other-dependent and perfectly established dharmas, there is no grasping and grasped, this is a synonym. Therefore, it is shown that the mind and mental factors that are separated from the grasping and the grasped are no-self, but not nihilistic. The no-self of a person is not merely referring to the absence of a person, but rather that in the aggregates, there is no person who is completely imputed by others. The so-called "inexpressible self-nature" means that it cannot be said, by its own nature, this is a synonym. In order to show the merit of fully grasping the dharma-no-self in this way, therefore it is said "thus, even mere consciousness" and so on. If it is understood that the absence of the grasping and the grasped is the dharma-no-self, then, at that time, the mind and mental factors will not be like that either, because it is understood that the mind and mental factors are separated from the self-nature of the grasping and the grasped that is completely imputed by others, so it is impossible to merely establish the mind and mental factors as being separated from the grasping and the grasped. By establishing the mind and mental factors as being separated from the grasping and the grasped, one can understand the no-self of all dharmas, but not by negating the existing dharmas in any way. If one does not think like this, what fault will there be? Therefore, elsewhere

It is said, "Na," and so on. If the mind and mental factors are not without self due to the nature of the apprehended and the apprehender, which are imputed by others, then, at that time, consciousness will be admitted to be for the sake of others, and therefore, the mere consciousness will not be established. Why is that? It is said, "Because consciousnesses are meaningful." Like this, being meaningful will not become consciousness at that time, and how can the mere consciousness be established then? Like this, the term "mere consciousness" refers to the mind and mental factors that are free from the apprehended and the apprehender. If some cling to those, or also cling to others, then how can the mere consciousness be established? Like this, it is not only the skandha of form that is negated from the apprehended and the apprehender, but all phenomena. Therefore, the mind and mental factors will also be free from the apprehended and the apprehender. In that way, all phenomena are established as selfless. Since no reason has yet been given for the non-substantiality of the apprehended and the apprehender, therefore, in order to refute those who speak of external objects here, the Blessed One spoke with this intention, "With this intention," and so on. Considering his own nature and appearance, the Blessed One said that the sense bases such as form exist, but those such as form that exist for the sake of the true meaning are not the objects of consciousness, what does this show? That is, if according to the literal meaning, if there is something here that contradicts reason, then it can also be inferred as intentional, but for this, if according to the literal meaning, there is nothing that contradicts reason, then why should it be inferred as intentional? This will be shown. Here, in order for the teacher to show the contradiction with reason, like this, it is said, "That which is one is not an object," and so on. That which is coarse, such as form, is not an object. Many that abide in numerous atoms are also not objects. Those atoms that do not exist are also not objects, like this, because the atoms themselves cannot be established, so in short.
