The present karma is the absence of joy in virtuous deeds. This is the karma that obstructs the connection with virtue. Carelessness refers to attachment, anger, ignorance, and laziness, etc., not guarding one's mind from attachment, anger, ignorance, etc., and not cultivating the virtuous dharma that is the antidote to them. For attachment, anger, ignorance, and laziness, etc., it is called carelessness. This is the karma that serves as the basis for increasing non-virtue and decreasing virtue. Forgetfulness is mindfulness that is associated with afflictions. Being associated with afflictions means being in accordance with afflictions. This is the karma that serves as the basis for distraction. Distraction refers to the part that belongs to attachment, anger, and ignorance, the mind scattering outwards. Because it causes the mind to scatter in various directions, it is distraction. Whichever of attachment, anger, or ignorance causes the mind to scatter outwards from the object of concentration, each should be established as distraction according to its respective situation. This is the karma that obstructs detachment from desire. Non-discernment refers to wisdom that is associated with afflictions. It causes the actions of body, speech, and mind to proceed unknowingly in activities such as going and returning. Because one does not know what should be done and what should not be done, it is the karma that serves as the basis for falling. Regret refers to mental remorse. One regrets having done wrong. Its essence is regret. Here, it refers to the displeasure in the mind towards the object of having done wrong. Because it belongs to the category of mental factors, it is called regret. This is the karma that obstructs the abiding of the mind. Sleep is the involuntary gathering of the mind. Entering refers to entering the object. That is, the involuntary state that arises from the mind is sleep. Or, the involuntary state of the mind that cannot hold the body, that is the source of sleep. Gathering the mind means not entering through the senses such as the eyes. It is classified as part of ignorance, therefore it belongs to the category of ignorance and is the karma that serves as the basis for missing opportunities. Investigation is the expression of mind that seeks everywhere, it is the distinction between wisdom and thought. Seeking everywhere means this

It is entering the state of contemplating "what is it." What is said in the mind is what is said by the mind, which is the same as saying. Saying is speaking of meaning. Regarding the difference between mind and wisdom, mind is the nature that makes all consciousness universally waver. Wisdom is the way to distinguish merit and fault. Because of its influence, consciousness enters, so sometimes contemplation is established on mind and mind. Sometimes it is established on wisdom and mind, just like the time and order of non-manifest and manifest awareness. Or contemplation is established only on mind and wisdom, because due to its influence, consciousness enters in this way. That is the coarse mind. What is called coarse refers to a large outline, because it is the way of universally seeking things themselves. This method should also be regarded as similar to investigation. Investigation is also the nature of the distinction between mind and wisdom. The mind's speech of separate contemplation is because it says "this is it" to what was previously understood. Therefore, it is called the mind being tranquil. These two are the actions of relying on touching and not touching. These two are distinguished by being coarse and subtle. What is called two kinds of two refers to two pairs of things, namely regret and sleep, and contemplation and investigation. These four dharmas have two forms: affliction and non-affliction. Among them, not doing unwholesome deeds but doing wholesome deeds, therefore, that which is the unwholesome mind is the affliction of regret. Not doing wholesome deeds but doing unwholesome deeds, therefore, the regret that arises is non-affliction. Sleep is also afflicted when it is induced by an afflicted mind and is in accordance with an afflicted mind. It is non-afflicted when it is induced by a non-afflicted mind and is in accordance with a non-afflicted mind. Contemplation of desire, malice, and harm is afflicted. For manifestation and so on, contemplation is non-afflicted. Similarly, contemplating methods of harming others is afflicted. Contemplating methods of benefiting others is non-afflicted.
