I possess, the wheel of nature that demonstrates the essence of the conventional dharma is the wheel of dharma. Furthermore, the teachings are also called dharma, as it is said: How does a monk also know the dharma? Here, a monk knowing the dharma is like this, such as the Sutra Pitaka and the section of verses, etc., as extensively stated. It is also reason, as it is said: seek dharma with dharma, and do not seek with non-dharma, as it appears. Therefore, the teachings that are inseparable from the dharma of reason are what is called the wheel of dharma. Because the wheel and the dharma are consistent, it is a wheel, because it revolves in other Vinaya sutras. Other non-Buddhists also have the wheel of dharma, but they do not possess the dharma, because they are separated from the dharma of reason. Therefore, only the Tathagata's wheel of dharma is said to possess the dharma, and it must be definitely accepted. Therefore, thinking about how the Blessed One Buddha will subsequently turn the wheel of dharma, listen to the dharma with reverence. The venerable Shariputra said: Thus, if a venerable Shravaka listens to the dharma correctly, he will not contradict the speaker, understand the essence of the words, attend to and respect the one who teaches with the nature of dharma, obtain his own benefit, and also obtain Nirvana. What does this show? Listening to the dharma correctly shows that there are three benefits in the three times, that is, at the time of listening, the speaker's intention is fulfilled, and one also obtains the essence of the meaning of the dharma, thus following others and oneself, at the time of practice, the teacher's intention is fulfilled, and one also follows because the defilements are exhausted, thus following oneself and others, and at the final time, reaching the end of all suffering, one obtains Nirvana without remainder of aggregates. If it is in the three times, why is it said to listen? Just as thinking of the two actions of speaking and going as being at the same time, doing as said when listening to the dharma is not like that. However, the cause of listening alone is sufficient.

accomplishment, just as saying that eating butter makes one strong. Therefore, desiring five benefits, one should respectfully listen to the Dharma. Just as lighting a lamp for the blind and those who close their eyes is the same, it is also the same for those who have no fortune, enter into wrong views, and cover their ears. Therefore, thinking that it is not right to become like the blind, one should respectfully listen to the Dharma. Because one does not understand the words, one should also respectfully listen to the Buddha's teachings. Like this, merely listening with faith also possesses great merit, and the nature of wisdom increases, so what need is there to mention understanding the meaning? One should also tell the story of the cowherd Gawu using the frog's mouth to illustrate the realization. Here it is also said: By what does one who listens with faith obtain the merit of the joy of the heavens? By what does one obtain the peace of Nirvana? The seed of wisdom increases. The holder holds the vessel, just as the master pours in the essence. Pouring in the essence is difficult, so you should focus and merely hold the vessel of the ears, while we pour in the essence of the true Dharma. Your task is easy, our task is difficult. It is blameworthy not to do what is easy and reasonable, therefore one should respectfully listen to the Dharma. The Buddha's teachings are like water. Water does five benefits: it makes rice and other foods swell, it removes dirt from the body, clothes, and vessels, it eliminates the heat of the body in summer, it quenches intense thirst, and it makes grass, grains, and forests grow and flourish. Similarly, generating faith in the Buddha's teachings makes the continuum of those to be tamed swell, it removes the dirt of broken vows, it eliminates the heat of desire, it pacifies the thirst of samsara, and it makes the grass, grains, and forests of qualities that are in accordance with the path to enlightenment grow and flourish. These five benefits should also be understood as starting from obtaining faith and the three trainings related to karma. Therefore, desiring these five benefits, one should respectfully listen to the Buddha.
