For a Bodhisattva who is attached to signs, for what reason is it that his practice of the three samadhis does not succeed? It is because he does not regard emptiness as emptiness, does not regard signlessness as signlessness, and does not regard wishlessness as wishlessness. Therefore, this is called the view of reversal. As for the view of being without benefit, it is that the Bodhisattva who holds the reversed view, his practice of samadhi is without benefit. Therefore, this is called the view of being without benefit. As for the view of increasing, it is that the Bodhisattva who is attached to signlessness, like this, wherever any Bodhisattva is seen, he causes a great multitude of beings to enter into correct acceptance, and causes a great multitude of beings to have faith, thinking that this increases much merit. Therefore, this is called the view of increasing. As for the view of deceiving, it is that the Bodhisattva who has the view of increasing, who has the mind of merit, from himself or others, arises the act of deceiving merit. Therefore, this is called the view of deceiving. As for the view of not promising, it is that the Bodhisattva who is attached to signlessness, thinks: I will argue with others that all dharmas are empty, but I will not make any promises, I will only refute them. Therefore, this is called the view of not promising. As for the view of deceit, it is that the Bodhisattva who is attached to signlessness, does not make any promises, but merely establishes emptiness as it is in the literal sense, this is abandoning words and engaging in backbiting. Abandoning words and engaging in backbiting is called deceitful speech. Therefore, this is called the view of deceit. As for the view of being punished, it is that the Bodhisattva who holds the view of not promising and the view of deceit, because their words are meaningless, therefore the wise always punish them. Therefore, this is called the view of being punished. As for the view of reverence, it is that the Bodhisattva who is attached to signlessness, like this, whatever the Tathagata has spoken

Relying on this view is to respect the teacher, regard him as a guru, regard him as a portrait, and make offerings to him. This view will arise. Respect is not like this. Therefore, this is called the view of respect. The view of slander refers to the bodhisattva who has the view of respect, who slanders the Tathagata. It is not just disrespect. Therefore, this is called the view of slander. The view of ignorance itself being serious refers to the bodhisattva who clings to the sign of non-existence. For the bodhisattva who does not cling to the literal meaning, he correctly explains other non-inverted views, and refutes them in various ways, but still cannot be reversed from that view. Therefore, this is called the view of ignorance itself being serious. The view of fault itself refers to the bodhisattva's view of ignorance itself being serious, which is called the view of fault itself. The great view refers to all these twenty-six views being called the great view. Why? Because like this view, the sixty-two views based on the view of the aggregation of destruction do not have such serious faults. Therefore, this is called the great view. For example, when a bodhisattva regards non-dharma as dharma, regards non-meaning as meaning, and proclaims this view of non-view, he will completely cling to the immeasurable karmic obscurations that lead to the decline of the Dharma, and will be connected to all things in the world. However, the views rooted in the view of the aggregation of destruction do not lead to the karma of the decline of the Dharma, nor are they connected to all things in the world. The view of manifest pride refers to that great view itself being called having the view of manifest pride. Because when manifest pride arises in the literal meaning of the Mahayana Dharma, this wrong view will arise. Therefore, this is called manifest pride, as it is said. Therefore, the Mahayana is the meaning of having intention.

This was not done as a treatise that causes decline. And why is that? Because it is to prevent bad views. Why is it prevented? In the Eight Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom, it says: Subhuti, furthermore, a wicked demon appears before a Bodhisattva Mahasattva in the guise of a monk and says this: This Dharma is like the sky, like this, it is omniscience itself. This Dharma is non-existent, like this, it is omniscience itself. This Dharma is not existent, like this, it is omniscience itself. Who will know this? Who will realize perfect enlightenment in this? He will not liberate anyone from it, because whoever realizes perfect enlightenment, and the Dharma by which one is to realize perfect enlightenment, all of that is like the sky, so you are pointlessly declining. Like this, to realize perfect enlightenment in unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, this is what the demon has taught, it is not what the Buddha has spoken. If he wants to reverse this intention, then a son of good family or a daughter of good family should know that this is the work of a demon, and should recognize it as such. If it is made into a treatise in order to make people hold the view that the Great Vehicle does not exist, then it will not prevent the view of non-existence, saying, "This is the work of a demon." Why is it that elsewhere, whatever is the ultimate meaning, is shown elsewhere as the work of a demon? Because the ultimate meaning is spoken with regard to the meaning that has a hidden intention, and the work of a demon is spoken with regard to the literal meaning. Furthermore, there is no liberation from preventing the path of unwholesome actions, and like that, wrong views are prevented many times, therefore, if someone starts to hold that everything does not exist, then how can he prevent "giving does not exist" and so on? Therefore, this is also not made into a treatise that causes decline in order to make people hold bad views. And why is that? Because it is to show beneficial methods.
