Then, how should it be expressed in other ways? If it is said, "Form has passed away, form has not come," then saying so becomes a denial of the very existence of form in the past and its future existence. If that is the case, then should it be said, "The form that has passed is what existed before, and the form that has not come is what will exist in the future"? If it is said that way, then when it existed before, it was what had passed; now it is not what has passed, therefore it will be shown that it has completely deviated from the state of having passed. What will exist is the future, but now it will not become the future, and the future itself will also be shown as not yet having arrived. Merely saying "passed" and "future" itself already expresses the meaning of existence and what will exist, therefore it will become a repetitive expression. If one likes that kind of expression, then the word "exists" itself is a connecting word, therefore how should one understand it to reasonably become the object of the three times? Therefore, how it is arranged is reasonable. If the characteristic of form has disappeared or has not been established, then how can it be called form? Through the terms of having existed before and will exist in the future, such as "the seed has decayed" and "the flour has been ground." Whatever is said to be exhausted karma, passed, ceased, separated, completely transformed, that is said to "exist," is because it is understood that it refers to the ability to produce results in the stream of consciousness through it, therefore it cannot be understood in other ways. To designate that which arises from that is like using the term "Pana Zao" in a village. Just as it says, "These six sources of contact, which were previously manifestly accumulated, the manifest thoughts about them should be understood as previous karma." Such examples are also the same. Through this intention, what is said about the past and future existing, and "the eye arises from what has not arisen, and even after arising, it will perish" is also reasonable. Therefore, here too, there is no contradiction with direct perception, and there is no contradiction between what comes before and after. The inference that "the definite arising of forms is formlessness" is also contradictory, because feelings and so on are...
