Like the earth. Happiness means abiding in happiness in the present dharma, because it possesses the distinction of extremely subduing body and mind, or because it experiences the joy and happiness of liberation. Meaning refers to the fact that the meaning of a renunciate is the meaning of discipline, for whose meaning are those who have renounced. Benefit refers to the fact that what leads to this is the discipline of a renunciate. Happiness is as before. Furthermore, meaning refers to the teaching, and benefit and happiness refer to explanation, because it benefits with the meaning of good, and it is happiness with the meaning of following, because it strives for the meaning of all sentient beings, therefore only these two are meaning. Both terms are also scripture. Monks, do not measure a person by a person, this is a section of the sutra pitaka. Among them, measuring a person who has qualities and does not have qualities, measuring the extent of qualities is measuring a person. Furthermore, this is "this is like this, that is also like that," relying on others to measure a person, without relying on others, saying "this person has so many qualities" to measure a person. Thinking in this way: "Alas, I am like this, committing sins with body, speech, and mind," this is a section of the sutra pitaka. Among them, sin, in the sense of inferiority, is misconduct, as it is said in the sutra: "The ripening result of misconduct with the body is called sin," and "So-and-so, I am not afraid of you, if you touch me twice, it will become sin," as it is said like this, it is obvious that it is inferior. Misconduct itself is violent, because it has the meaning of harming others. It itself is cruel, because it has the meaning of harming one's own body in the next life. Merit, in the sense of auspiciousness, is good conduct, as it is said, "Fragrance is merit." It itself is good, because it has the meaning of a pleasing result in the next life. It itself protects from fear and caution, because it has the meaning of completely protecting from the fear and caution of the lower realms. This is said in this way because the meanings are different, but the basis is different.

It is not like that. How is this known? Alas, I think like this: body, speech, and mind have committed sins; alas, I think like this: body, speech, and mind have not created merit, because initially only sins and merits are mentioned. Fighting, exposing faults, arguing, and debating, these are sections of the Sutra. Among them, wrongly starting to speak and repeating speech is fighting. Speaking of each other's faults is exposing faults. Not being able to tolerate these is arguing. Most of the people who argue say incompatible things to each other in debate, which is debating. Even if scolded, not scolding back, this is a section of the Sutra. Among them, angrily accusing someone of not being allowed to join the Sangha is scolding here. Speaking and acting with the intention of generating anger is not allowed, this is anger. Accelerating with the intention of causing suffering is beating. Exposing faults is the same as before. These precepts are non-retrogressing and without fault, this is a section of the Sutra. Among them, non-retrogressing is because it does not violate the training. Without fault is because it is not completely abandoned even in between. Not being deceived is because it is not mixed with hidden precepts. Not being common is because its cause is not mixed with discrimination. Having autonomy is because one has become the master by completely relying on the antidote, because it will not be taken away by external conditions. Not being confused is because it is defiled by evil views and evil wishes, because it will surely abandon them. This shows that the precepts have four qualities, that is, the precepts will not be overcome by their cause, and rely on their antidote. These three words and the remaining words should be connected one by one in order. The first three aspects are completely understood, because they are completely perfect. The other three aspects are well begun, because they are completely pure. Praised by the wise is because it is praised by the noble ones, because it is the cause of goodness. The wise ones
