It is not poverty because the fear of scarcity has been abandoned. It is not distress because wrong livelihood has been abandoned. It should be understood as poverty, scarcity, and distress because of possessing bad wealth, mind, and livelihood. If the phrase "meditation is seized by fabrication" is a section of the Sutra. Seized by fabrication is because it manifests obviously for a long time. Feeling like water is because it separates quickly. Seized by Dharma-nature is because it must always be guarded with mindfulness. Not being peaceful is because its opposite, the afflictions of the lower ground, are not completely subdued. Not being abundant is because it is mixed with the afflictions of one's own ground. Not having attained the vastness of the path is because it is very unfamiliar, and therefore does not arise naturally. Not realizing the mind-stream as one is because it is accompanied by agitation. Therefore, it must always be guarded with mindfulness, and should be understood by reasons such as not being peaceful. The white side should be understood as the opposite of that. Here it is said: Quickly manifest, not quickly separate, not always guarded with mindfulness, because its opposing factors are destroyed, because it is not mixed with one's own afflictions, because it is very familiar and arises effortlessly, not seized by fabrication, etc., the mind-stream is one because it does not waver. From the scriptures: Because of quick manifestation, because of not declining, because of constant guarding, because it is not an affliction, because it is virtuous, because it arises naturally, because it is completely perfect. In order, it is said from not being seized by fabrication to realizing the mind-stream as one. Thus, the mind abides equally, completely purified, this phrase is a section of the Sutra. Among them, the complete purification of the mind is in the sense of complete purification, because its opposite, the defilements of the lower ground, have been abandoned. Without afflictions is in the sense of being free from near afflictions, because it is not afflicted by the afflictions of one's own ground. Straightforward is in the sense of being capable, because it arises effortlessly.
