We. Also, what is the path that relies on those qualities, such as manifesting or generating special qualities like clairvoyance? Having extensively explained the path of meditation in this way, what arises along with it is: What is the path of meditation? Meditating to attain, meditating to cultivate, meditating to eliminate, and meditating on antidotes. What is meditating to attain? Meditating to generate virtuous qualities that have not yet arisen. What is meditating to cultivate? Meditating for the sake of the virtuous qualities that have arisen to abide, not decline, increase, expand, and to be abandoned. What is meditating to eliminate? Meditating to abandon sinful and non-virtuous qualities that have arisen. What is meditating on antidotes? Meditating so that sinful and non-virtuous qualities that have not yet arisen will not arise. The four types of path meditation are considered in terms of complete abandonment, and how they are combined accordingly. Among them, meditating to attain is meditating for the sake of attainment, so that one can attain virtuous qualities that have not yet been attained. The meditation of cultivation is cultivating itself, so that the virtuous qualities that have been attained become familiar. Meditating to eliminate is meditating for the sake of elimination, so that non-virtuous qualities can be eliminated when they arise in continuity. The meditation of antidotes is meditating on antidotes, so that future non-virtuous qualities become of a nature that does not arise. Furthermore, when the path arises, establishing its own imprints is meditating to attain. Thus, what arises from that cause can cause it to blaze greatly. When that itself becomes manifest and turns into meditation, that is the meditation of cultivation. The continuous combination of that path itself allows that to become manifest. Abandoning one's own obscurations is meditating to eliminate. Thus, it prevents the suffering of one's own opposing side. Having abandoned obscurations, it also establishes the nature of not arising in the future, which is meditating on antidotes. For the sake of transforming the place, with those paths of application and non-interruption, having abandoned afflictions, they will not arise in the future.
