The ripening of virtue and non-virtue, namely, happy and unhappy destinies, desirable and undesirable things, is inconceivable, because it brings about qualities such as ability and right view. This karma causes the various differences in the color and shape of the bodies of sentient beings, which is inconceivable. Inability and faults such as ignorance, other than omniscience, are what it brings about. Virtue and non-virtue themselves are inconceivable in terms of their location, object, cause, ripening, and distinctions. That very karma of virtue and so forth is inconceivable in terms of its distinctions of location and so forth. There, location refers to where in a village or city the karma was done, and so forth. Object refers to what was relied upon, whether it belonged to the category of sentient beings or the category of non-sentient beings. Cause refers to the roots of virtue and non-virtue, such as the appropriate ones. Ripening is that very variety of bodies. The karma that brings about the manifestation of various external objects is inconceivable. How karma makes thorns and so forth sharp and so forth, because the realms of the world cannot comprehend it. Karma endowed with jewels, mantras, medicines, and hidden arts is inconceivable. There, endowed with jewels refers to the arising of the moon, crystal, and so forth. Endowed with mantras refers to not being burned when they are applied, and so forth. Endowed with medicines refers to becoming invisible when touched by them, and so forth. Endowed with hidden arts refers to being free from epidemics by means of this or that hidden art, and so forth. The power of all yogis is inconceivable. By the power of their minds, they cause the great earth to shake, or fly in the sky, and so forth. The karma due to the power of bodhisattvas is inconceivable. That is, because of having power over life, having power over mind, having power over resources, having power over birth, having power over faith, having power over aspirations, having power over miracles, having power over wisdom, and having power over Dharma. The power and so forth of bodhisattvas is karma.

The inconceivable things I do are as follows: By mastery over life, Bodhisattvas bless the activities of life, and remain as long as they wish. By mastery over mind, they enter into samadhi as they wish. By mastery over resources, they rain down immeasurable precious resources upon sentient beings. By mastery over karma, they transform realms, lands, beings, birthplaces, and those who experience other states. By mastery over birth, they are born in the desire realm while abiding in meditation and without completely deteriorating. By mastery over faith, they believe that earth and so on are water and so on. By mastery over aspiration, as they wish, they manifestly accomplish immeasurable vast aspirations that perfectly accomplish the meaning of self and others. By mastery over magical powers, for the sake of taming sentient beings, they constantly display immeasurable miracles of magical powers. By mastery over wisdom, they go to the ultimate limit of Dharma, meaning, definitive words, and fearlessness. By mastery over Dharma, according to what is appropriate, to the extent possible, with names, sentences, letters, and other combinations, they establish the Dharma of sutras and so on, and are able to instantly satisfy all sentient beings. The activity of all Buddhas accomplishing the deeds of the Buddhas is inconceivable. How is it? All Buddhas, the Bhagavat, realize spontaneous accomplishment, understand that the sphere of Dharma is of one taste, and then abide following when, how, and how long sentient beings accomplish deeds. Thus, the Buddha-fields of the Buddhas are inconceivable. If these are briefly summarized, it should be known that the nature of the truth of origination has four aspects: the nature of cause, the nature of arising, the nature of production, and the nature of condition. The nature of cause is the cause that establishes the habits of existence, therefore it should be known as the nature of cause. Furthermore, that which establishes the habits of existence is, in short, the cause. The nature of arising is the mind.
