Harming others, and becoming harmful to both, and generating faults in the visible Dharma, and generating faults in future lives, and the suffering arising from that, arising from the mind, and experiencing unpleasantness. Complete abandonment is not accepting whatever arises. Thus, by fully understanding in three ways, one completely abandons the afflictions by fully understanding their basis, the object, etc., in the manner of not accepting whatever arises. Obtaining the antidote is obtaining the path in order to abandon what has not arisen. Thus, one cultivates the path in order for what has not arisen not to arise. By what kind of attention is it abandoned? It is abandoned by distinguishing from mixture, that is, by saying that all phenomena are without self. Focusing on non-difference, that is, the aspect of the general characteristic of all phenomena. If, by knowing that all phenomena are without self, one abandons afflictions by understanding in a selfless way, then why are the aspects of impermanence, etc., taught? Those are not for abandoning afflictions, but rather for fully training in the aspect of selflessness. Therefore, it is said that whatever aspects of impermanence, etc., there are, those also cause one to fully train in the aspect of selflessness. By relying on the aspect of impermanence, one obtains the aspect of suffering. By relying on the aspect of suffering, one obtains the aspect of selflessness, as it is said, "Whatever is impermanent is suffering. That is without self." Therefore, the aspect of selflessness itself is established as unsurpassed. Starting from the aspect of unsurpassed itself, there are three unsurpassed: unsurpassed knowledge, unsurpassed path, and unsurpassed liberation. Among these, unsurpassed knowledge is understanding selflessness. Because beyond that, no other knowledge can be found. The unsurpassed path is easy and quick to realize, because it is the best of all paths. Unsurpassed liberation is the unwavering liberation of the non-learner, because it is particularly superior to all liberations.

In short. These three unsurpassed natures should be understood as belonging to the categories of the path of seeing, the path of meditation, and the ultimate path, respectively. What is abandoned from what? The past is not abandoned because it has ceased. The future is not abandoned because it has not arisen. The present arising is not abandoned because it is incompatible with the path. However, it is abandoned from the evil abodes of afflictions. Whatever antidote arises to whatever aspect of the evil abode, that aspect of the antidote arises, and the aspect of the evil abode ceases, being equal by equality, just like the arising and ceasing of light and darkness. Because of being separated from the aspect of the evil abode, abiding in the nature of not being born in the future, that is abandonment. What is karma? It is the karma of thinking and the karma of contemplating, summarized as the nature of karma. Again, there are five kinds of karma: the karma of object, the karma of action, the karma of effort, the karma of transformation, and the karma of attainment. Among them, the so-called karma of object refers to the eye, etc., that is, looking at form, etc. The karma of action refers to earth, etc., that is, as a basis, etc. Or, that which acts by its own nature, for example, form exists as form, and so on. The karma of effort refers to the karma of body, etc., which is preceded by thought. The karma of transformation refers to the karma of goldsmiths, etc., that is, transforming into ornaments, etc. The karma of attainment refers to the attainment of nirvana, etc., of the noble path, etc. Here, it is mostly considered to be the karma of effort, because there is also the karma of attainment and action. What is thinking? It is the karma of mind that manifests thought, that is, merit, non-merit, and immovability. What is the karma of contemplation? It is the karma of body, the karma of speech, and the karma of mind. The karma of body, the karma of speech, and the karma of mind are also divided into good and non-good. Non-good refers to the ten paths of non-virtuous karma, namely: killing, taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, idle chatter, covetousness, malice, and wrong view. Good refers to the ten paths of virtuous karma.
