Considering that fabrication is suffering. Whatever is felt, it is said to be suffering. This refers to: neither being suffering nor pleasure, experiencing pleasure is also considered a statement of suffering. Experiencing suffering, because it is known as suffering in the world. Therefore, there is no need to express this thought. Furthermore, for the nature of arising and ceasing, and the related formations, the eight sufferings such as birth manifest. Therefore, it is called suffering. For which impermanent formations do appearances such as birth manifest, those, because they are impermanent, should be understood as suffering. Otherwise, the path would also become suffering because of impermanence. In the nature of emptiness, what does not exist, one correctly sees that it is empty. Furthermore, just like this, whatever remains, one truly knows that this exists. This is truly entering emptiness, and is called non-inverted. Where is there nothing? In the aggregates, elements, and sources, there is no permanence, reliance, solidity, unchanging nature, and self and what belongs to self. Therefore, they are empty of that. What remains? It is selflessness itself. Therefore, although self does not exist, one should comprehend emptiness as the existence of selflessness. The nature of emptiness is that, from the self (or nature) formations of the nature of permanence etc., it has become another thing, that is, it does not exist in them. Those formations are the essence of selflessness of the nature of self that is always separate from it, both of which are called emptiness. Considering this, the Blessed One said: one truly knows that existence is existence, and non-existence is non-existence. Furthermore, there are three types of emptiness: emptiness of self-nature, similarly emptiness of non-existence, and emptiness by nature. First, one should observe clinging to the imputed nature. Self-nature is clinging to the imputed nature, because it does not exist solely by its own characteristic. The second is the dependent nature.

One should observe, regarding the very nature of Suchness as intimate. Similarly, the emptiness of non-existence is the emptiness of other-powered nature taken as intimate, because in whatever way things should be thoroughly examined, those forms do not exist. Thirdly, one should observe, regarding the very nature of the perfectly established as intimate. The emptiness of self-nature is the perfectly established nature taken as intimate, because that is the nature of emptiness. What is the characteristic of selflessness? How is the characteristic of self imputed by those who speak of self determined? The aggregates, elements, and sense bases are selfless in terms of the characteristic of self. The characteristic of selflessness is precisely the non-existence of the characteristic of self that is thoroughly conceived by those who speak of those conditioned things as self. With this in mind, the Blessed One said that all phenomena are selfless. The Blessed One said, 'All these are not mine. This is not me. This is not my possession; it is like this.' One should look with correct wisdom as it is. What is the meaning of this? Why is this object not my possession? This inner object is not me? This is not my possession?' It is said with this in mind, like this, the external object is the form of mine, and the internal is the negation of self and the form of self. How is it said that the characteristic of an instant is impermanence? Like this, mind and mental events are not instantaneous, so form should also be regarded as instantaneous. Because it is seized by the mind, is one with the mind, is one with the mind, if the mind changes, it changes, is the abode of the mind, arises by the power of the mind, and is controlled by the mind. Also, because it aims at ultimate change, and even after being born, it does not depend on conditions, but is destroyed by its own power and manner. Therefore, form should also be regarded as instantaneous. All conditioned things are known as impermanent with the characteristic of destruction, etc., but not known as the characteristic of an instant, therefore it should be established. Among them, mind and mental events are instantaneous.
