Like an obstacle. Because it is an obstacle. The non-contradictory agent is an obstacle, like the absence of an obstacle. The opposite should be understood. What is a companion like? Which dharmas arise when there is a companion, and it is not possible if any one is incomplete, for example: the four great elements such as earth, water, fire, and wind, and what is made from the four great elements. How to combine all the aggregates of combination and what is made from the four great elements such as form with the four great elements? The four great elements will definitely arise, isn't it? Therefore, wherever there is something, it arises together with it, and it is not possible if any one is missing. What is similar understanding like? Which dharmas arise together, thereby similarly understanding the object, and it is not possible if any one is incomplete, for example: mind and mental factors. Like this, in order to determine the companion, the co-arising cause is established. The four great elements such as earth, water, fire, and wind, and what is made from the four great elements, should be understood as just examples. Mind and mental factors, because it is determined that they will not arise if any one is missing. If that is the case, the equipotent cause cannot be established separately, because mind and mental factors are all included in the co-arising cause. Even so, through other meanings, it will become an equipotent cause, because which dharmas arise together, thereby similarly understanding the object, and it is not possible if any one is missing, so the equipotent cause is established. Therefore, it is merely co-arising, for example: mind and mental factors. What is the increasing like? The previously habituated virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral dharmas, in the later stages, increasingly grow more and more, and arise most increasingly. What has been previously habituated is the meaning of what has been completely used before. In the later stages, increasingly grow more and more, and arise most increasingly, that is to say, those that have been completely nourished before, it should be seen that what arises from that cause will arise especially in the future. Like this, this is the similar isonomic cause.

These are the distinctions of the cause that makes it grow. What is the interruption like? In order to sever the continuity of Nirvana, any continuity of afflictions makes it grow. The co-occurring cause is not only similar, but any affliction such as attachment, due to habituation, will also cause the continuity of hatred and so on to grow and manifest. Therefore, because it is tightly bound, it should be known as the distinction of interrupting until liberation is attained. What is the holding like? In order to hold the body, non-virtuous and contaminated virtuous dharmas, etc. The ripening cause refers to what is not different from the next life, is unobscured and unspecified, and is contained in the body, for the sake of projecting ripening. It is the distinction of the meaning of holding. Holding contaminated virtuous dharmas is because uncontaminated dharmas do not produce contaminated ones, and because they are not in accordance, they are not projected. What is immediately preceding like? From the uninterrupted continuity, and from accordance and non-accordance, the immediately preceding arising of mind and mental factors should also be regarded as the immediately preceding condition. Among them, the uninterrupted continuity does not necessarily mean that there is no momentary interval, but the absence of other minds should also be regarded as uninterrupted here. Otherwise, the mind in meditative absorption, the mind of meditative absorption arising from entering meditative absorption without mind, should not become its immediately preceding condition. If it is thought that it should not become, that is impossible. Therefore, in the same continuum, the later mind and the earlier mind are not interrupted by other minds in between, which is the immediately preceding condition. As for how the mind is, mental factors should also be understood in the same way. The immediately preceding arising of mind and mental factors from accordance and non-accordance refers to the virtuous dharmas of mind and mental factors, which are the accordance virtuous dharmas, and the non-accordance non-virtuous dharmas, and unspecified dharmas, which are the immediately preceding conditions that arise immediately. Similarly, non-virtuous dharmas and unspecified dharmas should also be combined with the nature of oneself and others. Similarly, intention
