It has not passed away. Therefore, it becomes the time of death. As the Blessed One also said, his consciousness has not separated from the body. If there is no universally grasping consciousness, why is transference at death not possible? Like this, when the consciousness of death causes heat to dissipate and abandons the upper or lower part of the body, the consciousness of mind is not something that never arises. Therefore, the universally grasping consciousness is separated from the very holding of the body, and the heat of the body dissipates, and the body also perceives without sensation, but it is not separated from the consciousness of mind. Therefore, it is also unreasonable. What is mind? It is the nature of always assuming self, focusing on universally grasping consciousness, and being in accordance with the four afflictions: the view of self, attachment to self, the pride of 'I am,' and ignorance. Also, except for the path becoming manifest, the absorption of cessation, and the state of no more learning, it goes in all that is virtuous, non-virtuous, and unspecified, and it is any of the six consciousnesses that have just ceased. Mind should be understood as being indicated by a definitive word, object, association, and the time of arising. When the path becomes manifest, it does not exist because the understanding of reality and the universal arising of things like the view of self are extremely incompatible. Because it is not abandoned by the learner, it also arises from the universally grasping consciousness after that. Compared to the absorption of non-perception, the absorption of cessation is much more peaceful, and it should be understood as incompatible with universal arising. Because it is desired as the mind that has just ceased, it is called the mind that has just ceased. What is consciousness? It is the collection of the six consciousnesses, namely eye consciousness, ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, body consciousness, and mind consciousness. What is eye consciousness? It is the consciousness that relies on the eye and focuses on forms, individually distinguishing them. What is ear consciousness? It is the consciousness that relies on the ear and focuses on sounds, individually distinguishing them. What is nose consciousness? It is the consciousness that relies on the nose and focuses on smells, individually distinguishing them.
