Separate is otherness. What is conjunction? That which is in accordance with cause and effect is called conjunction. That which is in accordance with cause and effect, even if it is other, is what is suitable to become an effect by what means. For example, giving brings abundant enjoyment, and so on. What is quickness? That which arises quickly from cause and effect is called quickness. What is order? That which arises one by one from cause and effect is called order. Arising one by one should be understood as not arising simultaneously. What is time? That which arises continuously from cause and effect is called time. That which arises continuously from cause and effect is called quickness. For that which arises continuously from cause and effect, the cause and effect that have already arisen and ceased are called the perception of aggregation. That which has not yet arisen is future time. That which has arisen and is ceasing is present time. What is place? East, south, west, north, below, above, and the cause and effect of all ten directions themselves are called place. That which pervades the directions with cause and effect is called near place. Because non-form does not have the power to pervade the directions, cause and effect should be understood here as being summarized into form. What is number? The distinction of each part of the formations is called number. The so-called distinction of each part is because the numbers two and three, etc., are unreasonable for that which is not different and is a single entity. What is gathering? That which arises from cause and effect due to conditions is called gathering. The gathering of the conditions of cause and effect is like this: for example, the cause and effect called "consciousness" are that the senses are not impaired, the object appears, and the attention that produces it abides nearby. Similarly, it should also be applied to others. Thus, these non-mind-related compositional dharmas are all to be understood as imputedly existent, since they are imputed in dependence on states. Among them, the state of increase and decrease of virtue and non-virtue, etc., is one. The state in which mind and mental factors do not arise is what is spoken of. The state that is similar to existence

La is one by one. The stages of characteristics are four. The stages of terms are three. The stage of not finding is one. The stages of cause and effect are the remaining ones. Cause and effect should also be understood here as all conditioned phenomena; that which arises from it is the cause. That which arises from another is the effect. What is the aspect of the aggregate of consciousness? What is mind? It is mind or consciousness. Among these, what is mind? Because the habits of the aggregates, elements, and sources are completely familiar, the consciousness that universally takes all phenomena, as well as the maturation consciousness, and the taking consciousness are also it. In order to closely take the accumulated habits of those. For the universal arising of the aggregates and so on, the complete growth of its seed is called habit. All seeds, because they possess the seeds from which those aggregates and so on themselves arise. Universal taking, there, all phenomena are included in sentient beings with the clinging to seeds and self, therefore it is the universally taking consciousness. Because it necessarily arises from previous actions, it is the maturation consciousness. Because it takes the connecting body again and again, it is the universally taking consciousness. That is also called mind. Because it accumulates the habits of all phenomena. If asked, how do you know that there is a universally taking consciousness? Like this, if it does not exist, taking and forbearance and clarity, as well as seeds and actions, etc., when the body experiences, the samadhi without mind, likewise death is impossible. The divisions of the summarized verses are as follows: It is done within the content of the collected decisions. In eight ways, it should be understood that the universally taking consciousness exists. Like this, if there is no universally taking consciousness, it is impossible to closely take the body, it is impossible to initially arise, it is impossible to clearly arise, the seed itself is impossible, action is impossible, the body's experience is impossible, the samadhi without mind is impossible, and if there is no consciousness, death and transference are impossible. Why is it impossible to closely take the body? It is said, the aspect
