It is peaceful, in order to gather them together and invest them in virtuous deeds. One who is skilled in perfecting the Buddha's teachings is the Prajñāpāramitā, from the Perfection of Generosity up to the perfection of all-knowingness itself. A Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva who wishes to perfect it should study this very Prajñāpāramitā, for the Buddha has said so. One who is skilled in quickly attaining clairvoyance is one who confesses sins in six sessions, rejoices in merit, prays to the Buddha, and dedicates all roots of virtue, as it is said in the Ārya Maitreya Paripṛcchā. One who is skilled in the uninterrupted continuation of the path is one who bestows non-abiding Nirvāṇa, and who, like the uninterrupted and perpetual taming of beings in all realms of the world, universally demonstrates the conduct of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Whatever is incorrect conceptualization, there are root conceptualization, sign conceptualization, conceptualization that appears as a sign, conceptualization that transforms into a sign, conceptualization that transforms into appearing as a sign, conceptualization that is indicated by others, improper conceptualization, proper conceptualization, conceptualization of manifest attachment, and distracted conceptualization. Incorrect complete conceptualization is of ten kinds. Among them, root conceptualization is the appropriating consciousness, because it is the seed of all conceptualizations. Sign conceptualization should be understood as the aspects of body, place, and enjoyment, because the apprehended becomes a sign. These should be observed in order as the nature of the sense faculty, the container world, and the objects such as form. Conceptualization that appears as a sign is the six aggregates of consciousness and the mind, because they transform into the aspect of the apprehended, as previously shown. Conceptualization that has become a sign is the production of other signs such as the body, as previously shown. Conceptualization that transforms into appearing as a sign is the appearance as a sign of eye consciousness and so on.

As the teachings state, they are born into other states such as happiness. The discriminations taught by others are the characteristics of names, sentences, and collections of letters gathered by the teachings. These are of two types: the nature of teachings that are wrongly explained and the nature of teachings that are well explained. Therefore, the improper discriminations and proper discriminations gathered by the attention that dominates them should be understood in order. The discriminations of manifest attachment are those discriminations that arise from improper discriminations and are collected into the sixty-two views. The discriminations of distraction are those discriminations that arise from proper discriminations and grasp at characteristics such as non-existence. The discriminations of distraction are also: discriminations of non-existence, discriminations of existence, discriminations of superimposition, discriminations of denigration, discriminations of oneness, discriminations of otherness, discriminations of self-nature, discriminations of difference, discriminations of meaning as the name is, and discriminations of name as the meaning is. These ten discriminations should be understood as being made according to the first teachings in the Perfection of Wisdom. As it is said, Shariputra, even though a bodhisattva dwells in the very nature of a bodhisattva, he does not truly see a bodhisattva. He does not truly see the name of a bodhisattva. He does not truly see the Perfection of Wisdom. He does not truly see a bodhisattva. He does not truly see acting. He does not truly see not acting. Thus, name is empty by its own nature, but it is not empty by emptiness. Form is empty by its own nature, but it is not empty by emptiness. Even consciousness is empty by its own nature, but it is not empty by emptiness. Why is that? Because the emptiness of form is not form.

Furthermore, form is not other than emptiness; form is emptiness itself; emptiness is form. Likewise, so it is with feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness. Why is this? It is like this: the name "Bodhisattva," the term "Bodhisattva," the Perfection of Wisdom, enlightenment, form, and so on, up to consciousness, are merely names. By their very nature, they neither arise nor cease, are neither defiled nor purified. A Bodhisattva who practices the Perfection of Wisdom does not truly see birth, nor does he truly see purification. Why is this? Because, with respect to the unconditioned, after examining those dharmas individually, one subsequently applies provisional names. The more one applies names, the more one becomes attached. A Bodhisattva does not truly see any name. Because he does not truly see them, there is no attachment. Therefore, to counteract the conceptualization of non-existent entities, it is said that there is a Bodhisattva, etc., because the word "exists" implies the existence of a real entity. To counteract conceptualizing entities, if one does not truly see a Bodhisattva, it is said that one does not practice, and one does not truly see, because it prevents the reality of persons and phenomena. To counteract the conceptualization of imputation, it is said that names are empty by nature, because it prevents the imagined nature that is not real. To counteract the conceptualization of denial, it is said that it is not by emptiness, because that name, the imagined nature, is separate from it, and therefore exists at all times. To counteract the conceptualization of oneness, it is said that whatever is the emptiness of form is not form, and so on, up to whatever is the emptiness of consciousness is not consciousness, because the nature is other. Form and so on are the imagined nature, and emptiness is the thoroughly established.
