Ro. The complete abandonment is also manifested. Especially when the excellent path is attained, abandoning the inferior path is like this: if the path gathered by the fruit is attained, it is said that the inferior path of entry is abandoned. Also, it is for the sake of manifesting the most excellent. The complete abandonment is also manifested, which means that at the time of attaining the fruit, it is for the sake of abandoning all the evil destinies of its unfavorable aspects. It is the attainment of the distinction of transformation. In the realm of nirvana without remainder, all the paths of the Hearers are abandoned by the aspect of completely cutting off the continuum, which is abandonment, but not the Bodhisattva. Therefore, the Bodhisattva is called inexhaustible roots of virtue and inexhaustible qualities. Abandonment by the aspect of completely cutting off the continuum is called abandonment, which means that it is never universally practiced, which is a synonym for abandonment. The Bodhisattva is not abandoned in that way, because his path is attainable, For the sake of sending forth the thought of completely leading all sentient beings to nirvana. Therefore, Bodhisattvas are called inexhaustible roots of virtue and inexhaustible qualities, just like the inexhaustible ones spoken of in the sutra taught by Inexhaustible Wisdom. Why are things that are not taught established? It is for the sake of inquiring completely about what is not in accordance with the Dharma. Why inquire completely about what is not in accordance with the Dharma? It is for the sake of completely abandoning causes and effects, as well as all defilements and purification, and so on. If those inquiries are meaningful, what are they like? It is like inquiring from the Four Noble Truths, just like for the sake of realizing among causes and effects, as well as all defilements and purification, and so on. Why doesn't a Bodhisattva, after entering the certainty of a Bodhisattva, become a stream-enterer? Because stream-entry is not completely accomplished. Because of attaining the non-abiding path, stream-entry is not completely accomplished. Why doesn't one become a once-returner? Because of consciously taking birth in existence immeasurably.

It is for the sake of holding. Why does it not transform into non-returning? Because it dwells in all the meditations and is born in the desire realm. Bodhisattvas, having directly realized the truths, cultivate the path in the ten bhumis as an antidote to the obscuration of knowledge, but not as an antidote to the afflictive obscuration of the path of cultivation. When they attain enlightenment, they abandon the afflictive obscuration and the obscuration of knowledge simultaneously. Simultaneously, they become Arhats and Tathagatas. Although they have not abandoned afflictions, they are like poison held by mantras and medicine, like an Arhat who has abandoned afflictions. In all the bhumis, they do not generate the faults of afflictions. Furthermore, Bodhisattvas should be skilled in knowledge, skilled in means, skilled in discriminating what is unreal, and skilled in non-discrimination. The senses should be subdued from time to time. Whatever is said, should also be viewed in six aspects: delusion, the place of delusion, neither delusion nor non-delusion, non-delusion, and the similar cause of delusion. Among these, delusion is the manifest clinging to what is grasped and the grasper. The place of delusion is what acts as the domain of the wisdom of the noble ones, but is merely the nature of false discrimination, in which childish beings engage with manifest clinging. The place of non-delusion is suchness, because it is the support of non-discriminating wisdom. What is both delusion and non-delusion are the virtuous dharmas such as those arising from the attainment of conformity with supramundane wisdom, because they conform with discrimination and non-discriminating wisdom. Non-delusion is non-discriminating wisdom. The similar cause of non-delusion is the virtuous dharmas obtained after the noble path. Skill in means is skill in maturing sentient beings, skill in perfecting the Buddha's teachings, skill in quickly attaining clairvoyance, and skill in the uninterrupted continuation of the path. Skill in means has four aspects. Among these, skill in maturing sentient beings is the four objects of gathering.
