Synonyms for the term "earth." Pride, arrogance, and ignorance, among others, do not completely abandon the upper realms, because meditation that is heavily influenced by desire, arrogance, and doubt is completely defiled by afflictions there. Extreme lingering refers to the one who has seven existences, that is, the Stream-enterer individual who transmigrates in samsara seven times mixed among gods and humans, without obtaining the end of suffering. From one lineage to another refers to transmigrating from one lineage to another among gods or humans, without obtaining the end of suffering. This is the Stream-enterer fruit. One who enters the Once-returner fruit will definitely be liberated from suffering after transmigrating twice in samsara among gods or humans. One interval refers to the Once-returner who has not obtained the end of suffering in the heavens. This is the Once-returner. One who enters the Non-returner fruit will be completely liberated from suffering after transmigrating only once in the heavens. One interval refers to the intermediate state, that is, the one who has the opportunity to be born, this is one interval. To be completely liberated from suffering by abandoning the intermediate state refers to three situations: having abandoned the bond of becoming, but not having abandoned the bond of manifest realization, that is, when the intermediate state of becoming is manifested, what is manifested and the end of suffering is not obtained, and with what kind of affliction aspect does one go to the place of becoming and connect the consciousness, after this affliction is exhausted, only the habit remains, and after death, the aggregates are manifested, the remaining part is manifested in the intermediate state of becoming, the path that has been practiced is manifested, the remaining habit is abandoned, and one is completely liberated from suffering there, and it should be understood as what is said to be completely liberated from suffering thereafter. When the intermediate state of becoming is manifested, not thinking of going to the place of becoming, that is, what path is manifested and the end of suffering is not obtained. After manifesting, abiding in the place of becoming, that is, when the state of becoming is not obtained, what path is manifested and the end of suffering is not obtained. Regarding this, it should also be understood from the three situations of the non-noble, only the noble, and the distant place of the place of becoming.

In the manner of the Noble One's path of practice. To pass into complete nirvana after being born, without abandoning the combination of the two, merely being born in the Realm of Form, one directly realizes the path and does not attain the end of suffering. What is it to pass into complete nirvana without exertion? It is when, after being born, one directly realizes the path without exertion and does not attain the end of suffering. To be without exertion means that one has become extremely accustomed to it in the past, so it is implanted. This is the synonym for "without effort." The opposite of that is to pass into complete nirvana with exertion. What is it to pass into complete nirvana with exertion? It is when, after being born, one directly realizes the path through exertion and does not attain the end of suffering. What is the one who goes higher? It is when one is born in the various places of the Realm of Form and enters between the Akanishtha heavens, and there directly realizes the path and does not attain the end of suffering. Among these, to go into the Akanishtha heavens is because one experiences much, so small states of meditative concentration and so forth arise and are experienced. Therefore, beginning from the Brahma Host heaven, without interruption, one takes rebirth one by one in all other places, enters between the Akanishtha heavens, and passes into complete nirvana. Others go to the Peak of Existence and directly realize the path, and do not attain the end of suffering. Here, to go to the Peak of Existence is because one has not cultivated the Fourth Dhyana alternately, but has only used the Pure Abodes, and in that way goes to the Peak of Existence and passes into complete nirvana. To cultivate alternately means that one cultivates the Fourth Dhyana as small, cultivates it as medium, cultivates it as large, and cultivates it as extremely large, so one is born in the Pure Abodes. Having cultivated the five types of small and so forth, one should know that one is born in the Pure Abodes in sequence. What is an Arhat who is of the nature of complete decline? One who has dull faculties, whether intoxicated or not, whether killing or not killing, is one who has the potential to completely decline from dwelling happily in the present Dharma. Among these, whether killing or not killing means that one's own
