That is, for example, like the Sutra of Ste'u Yu, starting from the exhaustion of defilements, those outside of this, and those of this doctrine, think that merely hearing and contemplating is sufficient, and are completely discouraged by meditation, and the accumulations are not completely perfected. Monks, I say that I am exhausting defilements with knowledge and vision, etc., with fragments of the sutra, the first person is abandoned. Diligence in engaging in meditation, etc., abandons the second person. The metaphor of Ste'u Yu abandons the third person. The metaphor of the boat abandons the fourth person. The door of completely transforming letters is where letters whose meaning is completely established in other ways are completely transformed into other meanings, for example, someone who does not believe The eyes eat. Like such verses. The door of wasting and not wasting is where it shows complete wasting, and complete not wasting, and the means of both, and the complete distinction of both. For example, in the Sutra of Good Birth, complete wasting is excessive attachment to external and internal things. Among them, external things are the characteristics of family and wife, etc. Internal things are the characteristics of the five aggregates of close grasping. Complete not wasting is being separated from excessive attachment to these two. The means of complete wasting is not completely renouncing, and even after renouncing, not making effort to exhaust defilements. The opposite of this should be seen as the means of not wasting. Among them, alas, son of good family, Good Birth, this is adorned by two, that is, from shaving hair and beard and renouncing, and from exhausting defilements and completely knowing, this shows not wasting, and its means, therefore the nature opposite to this will show wasting and its means. The complete distinction of not wasting is completely shown by the tone of the verses. Monk, this is beautiful, Approaching peace and exhausting defilements. That is how it is. Thus, renunciation and the exhaustion of defilements are completely shown. That exhaustion of defilements is also, Free from desire and separated, Without grasping, nirvana. Having defeated the army of demons, It is holding the last body. That is how it is. This indicates that on the worldly path, after separating from desire, from the world.
