Furthermore, perceiving internally without form, one contemplates external forms that are red, of red color, appearing as red, and watches for the arising of red light. Subduing those forms with mastery, knowing and seeing through subduing, one attends in this way. This is the seventh sphere of mastery through overcoming. Perceiving internally without form, one contemplates external forms that are white, of white color, appearing as white, and watches for the arising of white light, like the color of the star Pavasa, or like a fine white cloth from Varanasi (Vārāṇasī), white, appearing as white, and white light arising. Similarly, perceiving internally without form, one contemplates external forms that are white, of white color, appearing as white, and watches for the arising of white light. Subduing those forms with mastery, knowing and seeing through subduing, one attends in this way. This is the eighth sphere of mastery through overcoming. These four arise from the liberation of abandonment, having realized it with the body, abiding in its completion. Among these, the liberations are devoted to objects such as diminishing in size. Those who overcome do so for the sake of control, subduing with mastery, merging into them, and acting as desired. Among these, diminished forms belong to sentient beings because they are small. The vast does not belong to sentient beings because houses, immeasurable palaces, mountains, and so on, are vast. Beautiful and ugly colors are those gathered from pleasant and unpleasant colors. Humans and gods are the good and the bad, in order. "Knowing by subduing those forms with mastery" means after becoming independent, which is the path of tranquility. "Seeing" means the path of insight. "Attending in this way" means whether subdued with mastery or not, because one has an attitude without manifest pride in that. "Blue" is a word of indication. "Color blue" means co-emergent.

It is because of the blueness itself. The term "showing as blue" is because of the blueness that arises from combination. The term "those from which blue light arises" is because the light arising from those two is luminous. Similarly, for yellow, red, and white, it should also be understood extensively as with blue. Each of the two examples speaks of colors that are co-emergent and those that arise from combination. For example, the word "blue" refers equally to both flowers and cloth. The term "blue color" refers to the flower itself, because it has co-emergent blue. The term "showing as blue" refers to the cloth, because it itself has blue that arises from combination. The term "those from which blue light arises" refers to both flower and cloth, because both have luminosity. In this way, for example, for the Sālmali flower and the excellent cloth from the Vārāṇasī region, the example of showing "blue, blue color," etc., is also appropriate. Similarly, it should also be applied to yellow, etc. The remainder is as it arises from liberation, so what is the remainder? For example, perceiving as an internal image, thereby seeing external images, etc., then one should look as it is shown, "one with form looking at forms." Just as the all-surpassing spheres control the object, and then the all-pervading spheres expand the all-pervading, thereby making everything universal and limitless, that is the meaning. Those all-pervading spheres are ten, namely, the all-pervading earth, the all-pervading water, the all-pervading non-existence, the all-pervading wind, the all-pervading blue, the all-pervading yellow, the all-pervading red, the all-pervading white, the all-pervading space limitless sphere, and the all-pervading consciousness limitless sphere. If one does not distinguish earth, etc., in the all-pervading spheres, then one cannot pervade with the blue, etc., forms that have the great elements as their cause, therefore it is a place.

Because of the very attainment of pervading the forms that possess, those should be understood as being established in exhaustion. The remainder should be combined in accordance with how they agree, just like liberation, which is called exhaustion, such as the sphere of infinite space, and so forth. Among these, liberations create liberations, spheres of dominance combine, and spheres of exhaustion should be understood as being completely accomplished. Ninth fascicle. Remaining without afflictions means that those who wish to appear in the sight of any sentient beings should remain in a manner such that all afflictions do not arise in me, contemplating in this way, and looking at what will happen in the future through the power of knowledge. Thus, whether one goes to their presence or not, in any case, there, for them, one does not generate subsequent attachment, anger, jealousy, stinginess, and other afflictions, near afflictions, and strife. Therefore, being without afflictions means relying on meditation, abiding in guarding against the arising of others' afflictions, being truly accomplished, as extensively explained. "Contemplating" means that if one desires to know the nature of knowable things, such as the past, present, and future, upon obtaining it, one should contemplate that this should be known, thus entering into meditation, and upon arising from it, one's wish will be fulfilled, and the knowable thing will be known, which is its definition. Individually and truly knowing the Dharma refers to those belonging to categories, such as beginning with ignorance, without hindrance to not knowing, not seeing, not realizing, etc., being a samadhi of true accomplishment, and so forth, extensively explained. Individually and truly knowing the meaning refers to the characteristics of the self and the general of phenomena, and other meanings, without any consideration, being truly accomplished, as extensively explained. Individually and truly knowing the definitive word, for local dialects, refers to how people in each place give different names to other things. For the definitive word of Dharma, it refers to, for example, destruction and
