In brief, it is because generosity and so on gather the bodhisattva grounds. Among them, the gathering of the family by the perfections is just an example. Generosity and so on should be known to be gathered by the sign of lineage. Gathering by generating the mind is because it is gathered by the particularly excellent mind generation. There are two kinds of mind generation: the non-distinctive and the distinctive. Among them, the non-distinctive is the thought, "Alas! May I awaken to unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment." The distinctive one is from the thought, "May I thus perfect the perfection of generosity," up to the perfection of wisdom. It should be understood that the perfections are gathered by this distinctive mind generation, because it is their cause. Regarding gathering the benefit of oneself and others, whatever completely takes hold of the wealthy through generosity is for one's own benefit. Whatever follows and takes hold of others by preparing resources for them is for the benefit of others. The remaining gatherings should also be understood in the same way. Gathering by ultimate truth, beginning with the realm of phenomena, is because suchness is the general characteristic of generosity and so on. Beginning with the accumulation of wisdom, it is for accomplishing the vessel of omniscience itself. Beginning with completely holding wisdom, it is for completely accomplishing omniscience itself. Beginning with following wisdom, it is because these five are in accordance with the perfection of wisdom. Beginning with the nature of wisdom, it is because the perfection of wisdom is the very essence of true wisdom. Thus, the essence of suchness and true wisdom, the ultimate truth, should be understood as being gathered by generosity and so on. The remaining ones should be examined by this example of exposition of gathering. The opposing aspects are stinginess, immoral discipline, anger, laziness, distraction, and immoral wisdom, in order corresponding to generosity and so on. Furthermore, the virtue gathered by the perfections

Whatever are the opposing factors of those many dharmas, and whatever is the obscuration of knowledge, it should also be known as the opposing factor of those. The benefits, in the case of the five kinds of fruits, should be known as immeasurable. For example, how the fruit of abandoning the opposing factors of each of these, and in this life, the fruit of making a person who cherishes self and others, and in the future, the fruit of the same cause, which is more and more excellent, the supreme and sacred, and the fruit of the power of great enlightenment, and great enjoyment, and going to happy migrations, and being without enmity, and being without distinction, and having more happiness and mental happiness, and having control over the mind, and being without harm to the body, and being renowned as having great power, should be known as the ripening fruits of generosity and so on, in order. The determination of one to one is of three kinds: that which arises from combination, that which arises from complete differentiation, and that which arises from complete separation and manifestation. Among these, that which arises from combination is to focus on including everything in the combination of generosity. For example, focusing on the generosity of giving away internal and external things. Among these, whatever is completely given away, that is the perfection of generosity. Among these, because of having a loving heart, whatever does not have a miserly mind towards others, and abstains from harm and various kinds of injury, that is the perfection of ethics. In that very same, whatever does not care about being close, being poor, and being weary, that is the perfection of patience. In that very same, whatever rejoices because of that, that is the perfection of diligence. In that very same, whatever is single-pointedness of mind, that the mind does not scatter outwards from virtue, that is the perfection of meditation. In that very same, whatever is the correct grasping of cause and effect as they are, and not holding onto supreme views, that is the perfection of wisdom. Similarly, up to the perfection of wisdom, one should also combine them appropriately, because the gift of fearlessness is generosity in all things. Furthermore, that which arises from complete differentiation is the complete differentiation by nature, and the subsequent

They are distinguished by separate distinctions, subsequent application distinctions, and arising distinctions. Among these, the nature of generosity and so on is giving, guarding, non-attention, manifest joy, abiding in the mind, and various distinctions, in order. Among these, following generosity and so on means that when applying to generosity and so on, the other perfections follow, as before. Among these, according to generosity and so on means causing to hold, praising, and rejoicing greatly. Among these, arising generosity and so on means placing it in the mindstream of others. Among these, the perfection of generosity is the generosity of material things. The other five that are not it are the generosity of fearlessness. All are the generosity of the noble Dharma, because they arise in the mindstream of others. Among these, what is transformed from the teaching of various distinctions is realization from one, and so on. For example: Is whatever is the perfection of generosity also the perfection of ethics? Is whatever is the perfection of ethics also the perfection of generosity? If asked in this way, it is connected with the following words: Whatever is the perfection of ethics, that is also the perfection of generosity. There are those that are the perfection of generosity, but not the perfection of ethics, that is, the perfection of generosity that is not encompassed by the perfection of ethics. Similarly, up to the perfection of wisdom, the perfection of generosity should be connected with the following words. Is everything that is generosity the perfection of generosity? Is everything that is perfection generosity? If asked in this way, it becomes three situations: It is generosity but not perfection, that is, generosity that is not completely dedicated to great enlightenment. There are those that are both generosity and perfection, that is, the generosity and so on that are completely dedicated to great enlightenment. There are those that are neither generosity nor perfection, that is, the dharmas other than those previously mentioned. Similarly, up to the wisdom of
