It is said to be Pāramitā because there are three kinds of excellence: the excellence of intrinsic nature with intimacy, the excellence of means, and the excellence of result. Intimacy should be understood as giving from a long time ago. The same should be understood up to the Perfection of Wisdom. The faultlessness of morality and so on is because the imputation of self and so on has been completely abandoned. It should be observed from the teachings of inexhaustible intelligence as appropriate. Moreover, it is called Pāramitā because it possesses twelve kinds of excellence. These twelve kinds of excellence are: Great excellence, because it does not desire all the perfections of the world and is supreme. Long-lasting excellence, because it is completely cultivated for three countless eons. Purposeful excellence, because it is for the purpose of accomplishing the benefit of all sentient beings. Inexhaustible excellence, because it has been completely dedicated to the Great Enlightenment, it will never be completely exhausted. Uninterrupted excellence, because of believing in the equality of self and others, it completely perfects the perfections such as giving to all sentient beings. Unstoppable excellence, merely rejoicing in the giving of others and so on, one can perfect the perfections. Empowered excellence, with the Samadhi of the Treasury of Space and so on, one completely perfects giving and so on. Completely grasped excellence, because it is completely grasped by non-conceptual wisdom. Composing excellence, refers to becoming great patience on the ground of practice with aspiration. Obtaining excellence, refers to the first ground. Homogeneous excellence, refers to the other eight grounds that are not that. Accomplishing excellence, refers to the accomplishment of Bodhisattvas and the accomplishment of Buddhas on the tenth ground and the ground of the Thus-Gone One. Moreover, because it is practiced and traversed by the noble ones, it is Pāramitā, that is, the term for what is practiced and traversed by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Moreover, because it has reached the other shore of what is to be known, it is Pāramitā, that is, the term for abiding in Buddhahood itself. Moreover, it liberates from the extreme harm to others and oneself.

Therefore, it is to cross over to the other shore, meaning to liberate others and oneself from the ocean of suffering. This is a temporary common definition. The individual definitions are, to give in order to eliminate the poverty of the benefactor and the suffering of the recipients. Because of obtaining the quiescence of the senses, being united with the good realms, and being a cool place, it is discipline. In order, it is to close the doors of the senses, to become the cause of going to the good realms, and to be without regret, etc., successively being the place between extinction, etc. Because of eliminating the heat of anger, eliminating the mind that brings harm, and proclaiming peace, it is patience. The so-called mind that brings harm is to harm in return those who harm, therefore, it should be understood that eliminating this mind is to eliminate it through patience. Those who bring harm are those who harbor malice, therefore they are called those who have harm, and proclaiming fearlessness to them should be understood as proclaiming happiness. Because of having the function of eliminating and increasing, it is diligence. Among them, acting for the sake of eliminating is to separate from non-virtuous dharmas through the two right abandonments. Acting for the sake of increasing is to accomplish virtuous dharmas properly through the two right abandonments. Because of having the function of holding, guarding, taming, and obtaining, it is meditation. Among them, holding means that the mind holds onto the object. Guarding means to guard the mind properly from distraction. Taming means to tame all afflictions. Obtaining means that it should be understood as obtaining freedom. Because of knowing what others say, knowing individually oneself, knowing variously, obtaining extreme peace, and knowing that qualities have reached the peak, it is wisdom. Among them, knowing what others say refers to the wisdom that is endowed with mindfulness and similarity arising from the cause of others' speech. Knowing individually oneself refers to being beyond the world. Knowing variously refers to what is obtained after transcending the world. Knowing in order to attain peace refers to being the antidote to afflictions on the path of cultivation. The qualities have reached the peak.
