Seeking it, focusing on it is called complete transformation because it is complete abandonment. The result is the abandonment of the afflictions to be abandoned by the path of seeing, because it is the nature of the path of seeing of the limbs of enlightenment. The focus of the limbs of the path is the very suchness of how the truth is seen thereafter. The nature is the eight dharmas such as right view. Among them, right view is the limb of complete cutting off, because it definitely grasps that very thing of how it is experienced. Right thought is the limb of making others understand, because after how it thinks, it evokes speech from all aspects. Right speech, right action, and right livelihood are the limbs of making others believe, because they are determined by others according to the order of purification of their realization and the five wrong views, etc. Among them, with right speech, one determines the relevant words of questioning and prophesying that are in accordance with realization, thereby completely understanding the purity of its view. With the boundary of the right path, because the behavior does not completely possess going and returning, etc., one completely understands the purity of discipline. With right livelihood, as permitted, by seeking clothes, etc. in accordance with the Dharma, one completely understands the purity of right livelihood. Right effort is the limb of purifying the obscurations of afflictions, because it abandons all remaining bonds. Right mindfulness is the limb of purifying the obscurations of near afflictions, because it does not forget the signs of right shamatha and vipashyana, etc., so there is no opportunity for near afflictive actions, etc. Right concentration is the limb of purifying the obscurations of special qualities, because it manifestly accomplishes the qualities of clairvoyance, etc. Cultivation is like the limbs of enlightenment, for example, right view dwelling in a secluded place cultivating, etc., appears extensively. The meaning of the places of the path and the Dharma should be understood as explained before. Shamatha has nine kinds of mind-dwelling, namely...

Taking back from external objects and not being distracted internally, initially bringing the mind close is settling. In this way, initially observing the gross movement of the mind, making it continuous on the object itself, and making it subtle, this is continuous settling. If forgotten and scattered outwards, it should also be pulled back, moistened and settled. In order to prevent the mind from scattering outwards, initially establishing mindfulness, this is close settling. Regarding the causes of distraction such as form, controlling them with the perception of faults, initially not allowing the mind to scatter excessively, this is taming. Regarding the afflictions that disturb the mind, viewing conceptual thoughts as faults, not allowing them to scatter, this is pacifying. When forgetting and conceptual thoughts arise, not accepting them, this is extremely pacifying. Continuously moistening and settling in samadhi without interruption through effort, this is one-pointedness. Because of extreme familiarity, without effort, spontaneously accomplishing, the stream of the mind's samadhi arises without distraction, this is equanimity. Vipassana is like this: it is called discriminating dharmas, etc. Among them, it can be aimed at practicing observation, or it can be aimed at the wise, or it can also be practicing afflictions, discriminating as much as there is. Thoroughly discriminating what exists as it is. The mental activity accompanied by conceptual thoughts, accompanied by wisdom, focuses on the sign, this is complete conceptual thought. Thorough investigation is complete observation. It is also said that relying on shamatha and vipassana, it transforms into four paths, which is in terms of practicing the four paths. Among them, the first is that in order to attain shamatha, one abides in settling the mind, from settling to equanimity; in order to not attain vipassana, relying on that samadhi, later also abiding in the same way, from discriminating these dharmas to complete observation. The second, one should know to do the opposite. The third, both have not been attained.
