In order to fully understand what has not been abandoned, by attending to the characteristics of suffering that correspond to this, individually observing, this is the attention of investigation. Having investigated in this way, by cultivating the antidote, in a continuous manner, in order to abandon all the afflictions that operate in the desire realm, attending to the ultimate antidote associated with the first dhyana, this is the limit of application. After that, becoming the actual first dhyana, this is called the fruit attention of the limit of application. Regarding this, by fully understanding its characteristics, thereby well understanding what should be abandoned and what should be attained, one abides in the mind for the sake of abandoning and attaining. What arises from aspiration is merely practicing correctly after that. What arises from extreme solitude is able to extremely abandon all great afflictions. By gathering joy, one is able to abandon afflictions of medium degree. Through investigation, one is able to make the mind abide in the absence of manifest pride of attainment. Through the limit of application, one is able to extremely abandon subtle afflictions. Through the fruit of the limit of application, these attentions are well cultivated, thereby experiencing the fruit of cultivation. In order to enter the first dhyana, the seven types of attention are as they are, similarly, in order to enter the realm of nothingness up to the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, one should also combine them as appropriate. The characteristic of coarseness is all the lower grounds, up to the realm of nothingness. In short, it should be understood as two types, namely, being in a state of extreme suffering due to not being completely pacified, and being extremely short-lived. Conversely, the higher grounds should be understood as the characteristic of peace. Regarding the establishment of measure, the dhyanas are for fully cultivating small, medium, and large. For each one, there are three births of dhyana, which are the fruits, such as the multitude of Brahma, the attendant of Brahma, the great Brahma, etc., as mentioned above. In the formless realms, since there is no other dwelling place of immeasurable palaces, there is no establishment of the difference of births in this way, however, they are small, etc.

Those who have become thoroughly familiar with practice, due to the differences in their lives and so on, there are high and low; due to the differences in the amount of afflictions and non-afflictions, there are good and bad. The establishment of names, namely, in the detailed classification of the four dhyanas, there are countless and inconceivable names of samadhis. For example, how many are included in the first dhyana, the samadhis that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and the Bodhisattvas who have attained great power enter into, even the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas do not know their names, let alone know their number or enter into them? Just as it is said in the Prajnaparamita, there are one hundred and eight samadhis, similarly, other Mahayana sutras also mention them. What is purity? The dhyana and formless states that arise from the highest peak are called purity, in order to manifest excellent qualities, to be able to obtain as desired, etc., in order to lead to the most perfect capability. The path of meditation of the transcendental path has eight aspects, namely, the wisdom of contemplating the Dharma and following after suffering, etc., as explained in the path of seeing. The samadhi that corresponds to these is either included in the uninterrupted, or from the first dhyana to the realm of nothingness. The realm of neither perception nor non-perception, because the flow of consciousness is completely unclear, therefore it is not the clearest place for the noble path, therefore it should be regarded as purely mundane. Therefore, because its consciousness is low, it does not take the object as a sign, therefore it is called signless. How is it known that there is no noble path in the realm of neither perception nor non-perception? For example, the Bhagavan said that no matter how deep the samadhi of consciousness is, it can be realized by the all-knowing. Cessation samadhi is transcendental, because it is the state after obtaining the noble path. Among people,
