Those that create sins are evils. Craving for existence and the possessions of existence, as well as the Buddhas, and causing harm by entering through doubt, are thorns. Holding many possessions, making them heavy or light, and combining them with destruction, etc., are heavy and light. Mixing with the practice of non-virtues such as killing is wrong conduct. Attachment, hatred, and ignorance themselves are established as the root of non-virtue, and through them, sentient beings engage in wrong conduct. Among them, with the cause of slight defilement, sentient beings seek enjoyment, and this is engaging in wrong conduct through attachment. With the cause of harming, and with the cause of complete conceptualization, those who cannot tolerate the faults of others engage in wrong conduct through hatred. With the cause of clinging to wrong teachings, and with perverted views, such as offerings, this is engaging in wrong conduct through ignorance. That which makes the mind scattered and leaks out is leakage. That which makes the body and mind weary is weariness. That which causes the grasping of inappropriate characteristics and signs, thereby causing complete suffering to the body and mind, is complete suffering. That which causes love or special attachment to objects such as forms, and if they change, then afflicts sentient beings with sorrow, etc., is disturbance. That which causes fighting by taking up weapons, etc., is fighting. Attachment, etc., to what is not Dharma causes great suffering, and like an epidemic, it should be known as an epidemic. Among them, attachment to what is not Dharma refers to attachment to all non-virtuous paths of action. Attachment through incompatibility refers to seeking in all places with what is not Dharma, which is unreasonable. Wrong Dharma should be known as the discipline of wrong teachings. Clinging to the forest of the tree of actions, which is the root of birth, is forest union. That which is obstructed by being possessed by views of the body, etc., and obstructs the union with virtue, is obstruction. Being possessed by views of the body, etc., refers to being controlled by the five mental obstructions. Attachment refers to discrimination towards objects and views, etc.

What is to be done is what is abandoned by meditation, and what is abandoned by seeing, in that order. Desire is because it focuses only on suffering. Whoever has desire for sentient beings should know that it is a distorted perception from the gate of the object. Similarly, anger is because it focuses only on the cause of disagreement. What arises in sentient beings should be known as a distorted perception from the gate of the object. Pride is a distorted perception of sentient beings and views, called "taking the small as great," etc., and arises in various ways, so it should be known as a distorted perception of sentient beings. The view of the aggregates, the view of holding to extremes, and wrong views are distorted perceptions of what is to be known, called the gate of addition and defamation, and combined as appropriate. Holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme is a distorted perception of views, because the fault of views themselves makes one hold moral discipline and asceticism as particularly supreme. Doubt is a distorted perception of the antidote, because the mind engages in two ways towards the truths. All ten afflictions are the cause of suffering and origin, and the two are also the basis of them. Therefore, they are called distorted perceptions by their cause and basis. Also, because fear arises towards cessation and the path, one enters wrongly, because one is manifestly delighted in samsara under the influence of afflictions, and one is distracted by the understanding of purification and is afraid, and by distinguishing in a reversed way, one should see the distorted perceptions of cessation and the path. The tirthikas, on the other hand, universally contemplate in other ways, and therefore distort their perceptions of it. Desire that acts in the desire realm, endowed with the five aggregates of consciousness, is endowed with pleasure. Endowed with the aggregate of mental consciousness, it is endowed with mental pleasure. All desire is endowed with equanimity at the time of cessation. It is not endowed with suffering and displeasure, because the aspect of joy arises. Anger endowed with the five aggregates of consciousness is endowed with suffering.
