The so-called "ten" refers to the seven consciousnesses, as well as form, sound, and the realm of phenomena. The so-called "four sources of birth" refers to the sources of birth of form, sound, mind, and phenomena. The so-called "one side" refers to that which is not predicted and that which has not attained the unpolluted. The so-called "transformed by digestion" means that during the digestion of food, the great elements of the senses are strengthened. The so-called "transformed by objects" refers to the food born of contact, because the agreeable objects benefit the body through touch. The so-called "transformed by hope" refers to the food born of mental thought, because of the power of hope related to desirable things benefiting the body. The so-called "transformed by taking" refers to the food born of consciousness, because the power of the alaya consciousness's grasping causes the body to exist; in this way, if separated from it, the body will perish. Furthermore, these four kinds of food, in general, are established in four ways. For example, the impure body is able to exist, which is the ordinary beings in the desire realm, because everything is connected with bondage, so it is an impure place. The pure and impure body is able to exist, which is the learners and the ordinary beings in the form and formless realms, because there is still a remainder of bondage. The pure body is able to exist, which is the Arhats, because they are liberated from all bondage. Fully showing existence is the Buddhas and the Bodhisattvas who have attained great power, merely because of the power of food fully showing existence. The so-called "with the upper one by one side of the unconditioned" refers to other than Nirvana, because its nature is completely pure Suchness, therefore it is the most excellent of all dharmas. The summarized distinctions are of three types, and it should be understood that they are made the masters of the three natures in the manner of the selflessness of the person. Among them, the completely imputed nature refers to that which relies on the aggregates and so on, and which does not inherently exist, but is universally grasped as the nature of self and so on.

The nature of independence is that aggregates and so on, which are not truly existent anywhere, give rise to the conceptualization of self and so on. The nature of perfect accomplishment is the characteristic of not possessing things and non-things, because aggregates and so on do not have self and so on, and possess the characteristic of having no-self and so on. Differentiating in detail by characteristics is from the perspective of the nature of all dharmas, such as form, feeling, and so on. Differentiating in detail by aspects is from the perspective of differences, such as substantially existent and nominally existent. Differentiating in detail by body is from the perspective of individual bodies, that is, the aggregates and so on being different from each other. Differentiating in detail by continuity is from the perspective that even in the same body, each moment of the aggregates and so on is different from each other. What is differentiating in detail by looking at external objects? Mostly practicing in the desire realm, this is called the manifestation of non-comprehension arising from hearing and thinking, which arise from the cause of dharmas with the same cause. Fourth fascicle. To summarize by nature is from the aggregate of form itself summarizing the aggregate of form, until the realm of dharmas widely summarizes the realm of dharmas. What is summarizing by realms? It is that all aggregates, realms, and sources are summarized by the alaya-vijñana, because in it there are the seeds of all of them. To summarize by type is that aggregates and so on are form and so on, which have the meaning of accumulation and so on. Although their natures are different from each other by their own characteristics, they are all summarized because they are of the same type. Similarly, realms and sources should also be understood as summarizing the eyes and so on, which have the meaning of closely practicing holding, and have the meaning of the gate of birth. To summarize by state is that although aggregates and so on are determined to be of the same type, after determining the state of happiness and so on, the state of happiness is summarized by the state of happiness itself, but not by the state of suffering. Similarly, the state of suffering is also summarized by its own state. How are aggregates and so on, realms and sources also
