Virtuous phenomena arising from the mind are the immediately preceding condition for those that immediately arise, which are similar virtuous phenomena, dissimilar non-virtuous phenomena, and unspecified phenomena. Similarly, non-virtuous and unspecified phenomena should also be combined with their own and others' forms. Likewise, activities in the desire realm are the immediately preceding condition for those that immediately arise, which are activities in the desire realm, activities in the form and formless realms, and undefiled phenomena. Similarly, activities in the form realm, etc., should also be combined separately with activities in the form realm, etc., and activities in the desire realm, etc., as the immediately preceding condition for those that immediately arise. Do all sentient beings immediately give rise to all minds? Or is there a certainty? Answer: There is a certainty. If one were to say that after this mind, this mind and that mind will arise, then the statements would become numerous. Therefore, in general, only the characteristics of the arising of the mind are distinguished. In this way, the arising of the mind should be known through the ten powers: the power of familiarity, the power of aspiration, the power of effort, the power of absorption, the power of projection, the power of cause, the power of object, the power of mindfulness, the power of attention, and the power of linking. The power of familiarity has three aspects: small, medium, and large. Because the causes of absorption, abiding, and arising are not manifest, it is small. Because it is not manifestly well-familiarized, it is medium. Because it is well-familiarized, it is large. Among these, it should be known that with the power of small familiarity, one gradually enters into meditative concentration and the formless realms. With the medium power, one enters into meditative concentration by transgressing in a way that one is interrupted. With the great power, it should be known that however one wishes, or having transgressed into all, one enters into meditative concentration in accordance with or not in accordance with the rules. With the power of aspiration, one who has attained the second meditative concentration enters into the first meditative concentration, and if one wishes, one can manifest the mind arising from the ground of the second meditative concentration. If one wishes for something else, one can also make manifest a virtuous or unobscured activity in the desire realm.

What has not been prophesied is manifested. Similarly, it should be widely applied to other situations as well. Through the power of combination, the immediate result of virtuous conduct in the desire realm is that initially, only a mind operating in the form realm arises. In the immediate result of invincible virtue, there is the actual practice. In the immediate result of the actual practice, it should be understood extensively from what is called the proximity of the second dhyana up to the peak of existence. Through the power of absorption, sometimes the mind of absorption produces two pure ones, and sometimes it is afflicted. Through the power of projection, when arising from samadhi and walking, as long as the conflicting afflictions continue to arise and have not completely deteriorated, the mind of the state of equipoise and the moment of non-equipoise will follow. The arising of a mind that is incompatible with this and corresponds to afflictions should be understood through the four powers of cause and so on. Among them, through the power of cause, if the obscurations that will undoubtedly completely deteriorate have been accumulated in the past. Through the power of the object, if an object that is in accordance with the revival of desire, with the power of signs such as ugliness being dominant, appears. Through the power of memory, if the conceptualizations of memory transfer the past object. Through the power of attention, if through the attention of action, attention is paid to any sign of ugliness. Through the power of connecting continuity, there are nine types of dying minds, namely, minds that correspond to craving for the body, operating separately in the three realms, namely, the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm. Among them, the mind that connects continuity from death and transference from the desire realm to the desire realm itself, corresponding to craving for the body operating in the desire realm, should be understood as the mind of death and transference. The mind that connects continuity in the form and formless realms should be understood as the mind of death operating in the form and formless realms. Similarly, the minds that die and transfer from the form and formless realms to the same or other realms should also be combined into six types.
