Liberation is merely the non-arising of all things through abandonment by antidotes, because those are to be abandoned through cultivation. In the stages of the peak, forbearance, and supreme dharma, the afflictive obscurations and the obscurations to knowledge that are to be abandoned by seeing, completely subduing the imputed, is liberation. In the stage of the path of seeing, the complete destruction of the seeds of those two kinds of obscurations is liberation. From then until the vajra-like samadhi, the co-emergent seeds of the obscurations to knowledge are gradually and completely destroyed. The co-emergent view of the aggregates and the view of clinging to extremes, which are associated with the mental consciousness, are completely subdued in all respects on the fourth ground. Other than that, attachment, hatred, and delusion are completely subdued in all aspects, and the afflicted mind is completely subdued on the eighth ground. All the seeds and the habitual tendencies produced by the afflictions are completely destroyed all at once by the vajra-like samadhi. "Relying on pure higher intention" refers to the straight intention and so forth taught from the tenth ground. "Those with prior application" and so forth are spoken of in that way because they are of the same continuum. Those that have become causes are to be accomplished through the gateway of realization. Accomplishing through realization is also the uninterrupted entry into the perfections by destroying the seeds of miserliness and so forth, which are the opposing factors to the perfections, and by completely grasping with the purity of the three spheres. After that, the distinctions of the cultivation of the ten grounds, which have pure higher intention as their cause, are shown. That also is actually by two countless eons, but the three themselves are completely perfected there, so it is said to be three countless eons. The complete training is because it depends on the ground, and after that are the three trainings, and the order among these is as before. The order of the remainder is also as before. The statement that the entire Great Vehicle is completely perfected refers to the distinctions of the object of focus and so forth, as they have been spoken of.

Oh, so it is. These ten points are a summary and explanation. The detailed explanation will be given from this point onwards. Therein, the four aspects of name, self-nature, reasoning, and classification will be explained. In order for the listeners to be able to distinguish, first only the names are stated. After that, the characteristics are stated for those who wish to explain. In order to fully establish the self-nature, the reasoning is elaborated. In order to keep what is established by reasoning at the end of its establishment, there is classification. There are also four differences in names: the uncommon of the Mahayana, the common of the Hearer Vehicle and the Mahayana, the uncommon of the Hearer Vehicle, and the debate about them. The debate is this: In the continuum of the entering consciousness, is what is called the ālaya-vijñāna a name, or is it something different from it? For the time being, from the perspective of the first name, the Blessed One taught the ālaya-vijñāna, and mentioned "where is the ālaya-vijñāna" and so on. Here, if combined with the answer to the question, it is evident that the questioner is an unskilled Mahayanist. Because the meaning of this question is determined by stating the sutras belonging to the Mahayana. Or, a sect is asking, but there is no fault, because in this way, they are made to admit that the Mahayana is the teaching of the Buddha by means of valid cognition. Or, the teacher himself, considering future beings, asked and answered himself. Regarding "without beginning" and so on, here too, if the name "ālaya-vijñāna" is written, then it will be shown that the word "object of knowledge" itself is the place of all dharmas. Because the ālaya-vijñāna was asked, it was thought that this was also a question. Therefore, this is not inappropriate, but appropriate. In another way, even if the answer to the ālaya-vijñāna is being given, why is the object of knowledge first explained and then the ālaya-vijñāna explained?
