It also includes forms, etc., that are inseparable from the sense organs. If this is the case, whatever is grasped is the grasper, then what is grasped is not other, because it is said in the scriptures that "nine are two." Here, the undefiled consciousness is not the one who grasps the sense organs, because there is contradiction, like nirvana. Defiled virtue is also not the grasper, because it is virtue, like the path. Non-virtue is also not the grasper, like the predicted virtue. Other unpredicted actions, crafts, and transformations are also not the graspers, because they are not the result of maturation, like virtue. The consciousness of maturation, together with the sense organs, is produced by one action, and is the same as accomplishment and happiness. By pointing to each other, it becomes the grasper of the sense organs. According to one's own view, entering consciousness is not the subject of maturation, but according to the view of others, it is admitted and called the consciousness of maturation. So how does entering consciousness grasp? If it is said that it is in order to take the object of perception as one's own, then the external object will also be grasped. If it is said that it is in order to completely hold the object of support, then the sense organs will be grasped, but not the form that is inseparable from the sense organs. If it is said that it grasps in order to completely hold the object of support, and the form that is inseparable from the sense organs is only grasped by what is inseparable from the sense organs, then, in order to show that entering consciousness cannot grasp in this way either, it is said, "Because the places are determined separately." Entering consciousness, because the places are determined separately, cuts off the places of other consciousnesses, and grasps its own place. Therefore, if one consciousness manifests, since it does not grasp the support of other consciousnesses, like a dead body, other sense organs will also dissipate, resulting in the interruption of the continuum. The consciousness of mind, like external form, does not depend on the colored sense organs, because the sense organs

Since it does not hold any material sense faculty, it is harmful to infer it by other means. Although it is admitted that other consciousnesses hold the support of other sense faculties, it is said "because it is unstable" in order to show that the entering consciousness cannot be the holder itself. In the state of mindless sleep, fainting, and absorption, all entering consciousnesses have ceased, and since they are separated from the holding consciousness, the sense faculties are not grasped, so the ashes of cessation in that respect have been sown, so the entering consciousness is not suitable to be the holder. If it is thought that at that time the body's sense faculty pervades the whole body, so it holds other sense faculties. That is true, but the body's sense faculty holds it, and since it is separated from others, it will become the fault of not being grasped. Or it is thought that only by the power of the pull of karma, even if the entering consciousness ceases, all material sense faculties will follow. It is said "without consciousness" etc., even if there is the pull of karma, since it is separated from consciousness, it is still not grasped, just like a vase etc. Or it is said that a material sense faculty without consciousness is not allowed, this is explained by one's own view, except for mind and mental factors, if things are clear, then all these internal and external forms are established on the differences of the state of mind and mental factors. In that state, all entering consciousnesses have ceased, if the alaya consciousness is denied, then by what difference of state will the eyes etc. be distinguished? Or, at that time, the one who faints and enters into absorption is completely one. If the alaya consciousness also depends on the material sense faculty, then how does it hold it? That is not so. Here, it is not held because of dependence, but because it is the support. The alaya consciousness is the support of all dharmas, so it is also the support of the material sense faculty. Furthermore, this

Observing, the ability to hold onto the colored sense organs is indeed its result. Furthermore, just as, according to one's own view, colored objects are grasped, so too, in order to closely grasp all colored sense organs, distinctions have already been made there. In order to show that the second state of pervasive affliction of sorrow is unreasonable without the Alaya consciousness, the term "consciousness" and so on are mentioned. In this sutra, because the nature of the four aggregates of name is held, thereby distinguishing name and form, it is explained in this way. Therefore, if the Alaya consciousness does not exist, then what other consciousness would become the cause of entering consciousness that belongs to the category of name? The entering consciousness that belongs to the category of name and form, what consciousness would it become the cause of? Through continuous entry, the previous name is also the cause of the subsequent entering consciousness, and the previous entering consciousness is also the cause of the subsequent name, even if such a promise is made, it is not possible. Because the analogy of the arrow house has proven that name, form, and consciousness are simultaneous, and they are the sole cause of each other. From one's own point of view, whatever mind is afflicted, because it is not the place of all dharmas, nor is it to be completely nourished by all dharmas, and it is not the cause of entering consciousness and form, it is simply impossible to belong to it. In order to show that the third state of pervasive affliction of birth is also undifferentiated, it is said, "Other consciousness is also the food of sentient beings," and so on.
