Because of complete nourishment, it is the causal condition. For example, the co-equal cause of the Vaibhashikas, because it is co-equal, is the co-equal cause of other substances. The dominant condition is because it completely nourishes different predispositions. However, since such a thing is not seen in sesame seeds and the like, how can it become a predisposition of nature? That is not reasonable. Because it is seen that the smell of garlic and the like, even when encountering flowers, does not take their fragrance. Therefore, it should be known that sesame seeds and the like have the ability to take fragrance only by nature. Furthermore, since there are no objects other than mind and mental factors, sesame seeds and the like are only non-existent. In worldly fame, it is only known as the basis of predispositions, and it is only used as an example of the arising of predispositions, etc. How can it become the same as it? Some also discuss the second distinction, saying: The alaya-consciousness does not arise and cease simultaneously with other alaya-consciousnesses, so it will not become the predisposition of the cause of arising. Isn't it said that the mind-consciousness with similar objects generates predispositions? That is not reasonable. There are two kinds of objects: the nature of mind and mental factors is substance, and the nature of form is not substance. Among them, the mind-consciousness that takes mind and mental factors as its object, because it is only for the purpose of generating them, generates predispositions; and the mind-consciousness that takes form as its object also does so only for the purpose of generating it. According to the Mind-Only school, in either case, the object and aspect are not established, so how can they become similar through the object? However, there are two kinds of objects: manifest objects and objects that become other through indirect means. Among them, the manifest object is the apprehended aspect. The indirect object is the alaya-consciousness, because the apprehended aspect appears by virtue of it. Therefore, how can one think that there is no difference through the object when one takes what is substantially existent through the indirect object? There are other thoughts on this distinction as well.

Due to the power of karma, the mind-consciousness gives rise to the complete grasping of objects and aspects. The habitual tendencies produced by this become the causal condition for the arising of other minds and mental factors, thus all sentient beings would become a single continuum. Even if that continuum itself is the object, since the object and aspect are not fully established, it remains in a state where the object and aspect are different. Any naturally occurring lineage has thinner afflictions and obscurations of knowledge. It is also unreasonable to say that the noble path has no causal condition, because it is stated in the scriptures that the naturally abiding lineage is the distinction of the six sense sources. Moreover, according to all schools, all minds and mental factors arise from four conditions. It is stated in the Compendium of Determinations that it shows that the uncontaminated seed of the nature of the seed of obscuration being thin exists. One can fully investigate its meaning. Taking the chapter on identity and otherness as the basis, questions are raised such as what are the seeds of the alaya-consciousness and all defiled dharmas. "All defiled" refers to the seeds of contaminated dharmas. Are there no uncontaminated seeds? To this, those who speak of two kinds of distinctions say: If it is said with regard to the seeds of dharmas in the continuums of individual ordinary beings, then there are no uncontaminated seeds in those continuums. That is unreasonable, because that distinction is to be abandoned. Therefore, it is said with regard to the seeds that are spoken of in the continuums of individual ordinary beings from the various schools. From the various schools, it is said that there are contaminated seeds. Alternatively, there is no fault in saying that the uncontaminated seeds that are going to be explained are not the alaya, but are included in the alaya-consciousness. Are they separate? Does it mean that they exist as entities different from the alaya-consciousness? If that were the case, if it were one different entity, then form would be excluded, because the seed
