Consciousness becomes the object of the seed, but it is not like the master who does not depend on others to fully hold the seed. The continuous force of the wind is strong, and what is similar to the occurrence of water waves is a river. Similarly, the Alaya consciousness is continuous from moment to moment, and it is also similar to the occurrence of waves of the seven consciousnesses that enter in sequence and suddenly, therefore it is a river. In another way, in order to counteract some of its own schools that think that cause and effect are both the same and different, it is said "like a river". Just like the water of a river, it cannot be said to be the same or different, waves arise, similarly, the continuous stream of Alaya consciousness, it cannot be said to be the same or different, waves of mind and mental factors arise. Like this, it cannot be said that cause and effect are different, because that would lead to the fault of everything arising from everything. Nor can it be said that it is not different, because that would lead to the statement of the Samkhya school. The so-called "for the children", the children here refer to those of the Shravaka lineage who do not have the fortune of that time, and who have not obtained the subtle points of the Alaya consciousness through correctly interpreting the meaning shown in the scriptures, but have completely lost it through wrong thinking, thus completely losing from their own fruits. The so-called "that which can take all the colored roots", this shows that it takes the colored roots after the self-connecting rebirth, that is, those colored roots that exist in life. Taking the moment of self-connecting rebirth is shown by the subsequent words. All the colored roots mentioned here refer to the great elements that are the basis, and the objects of color and so on that exist inseparable from those great elements. The so-called "becoming the place for taking all bodies", this shows that it takes the moment of self-connecting rebirth, without omission, connected to the birth pill, included by the eyes and so on, from the perspective of nature, and the root of the body from the perspective of its own nature. Like this, how long is life

Therefore, in the subsequent part, through "those with colored roots," etc., the meaning of the first word's near attainment is explained in detail, which is the definition of "being possessed as an obstacle to destruction." Furthermore, how are the eyes, etc., possessed? Because they appear as the basis of happiness and suffering, etc., through benefit and harm. Whatever appears as not possessed is non-existent, such as the vessel world and dead corpses, etc. For example, in a dream, although the consciousness of mind is not unique, whatever appears as the basis of bodily happiness and suffering, etc., is called "taken," which is the cause of delusion; whatever appears as palaces, etc., is called "not taken," just as this principle, the reasoning here is also the same. Through "at the time of self-union," etc., connecting the context, the meaning of the second word's near attainment is explained in detail, which is the meaning of "at the time of self-union, related to the seed of the body associated with birth, which is holding the body through manifestation." Furthermore, why specifically explain two near attainments? For the sake of debate. According to the view of one's own school, "wine and union, free from desire, decay and death, transference and birth, are solely the consciousness of mind." Therefore, after self-union, the consciousness of the eyes, etc., is considered the sole near attainer; at the time of self-union, the consciousness of mind is considered the near attainer. How these two are impossible will be explained from the practice of the afflictions of birth. Therefore, to counteract it, two near attainments are specifically explained. Among them, the near attainment of all colored roots should be understood to be in the desire realm and the form realm. For formless beings, since there are also colored roots, why is it said to be "in the desire realm and the form realm"? Because formless beings also have immeasurable palaces, and in other sutras, they come to listen to the Dharma, see, and serve the Bhagavan.
