Because it necessarily arises in any of the pleasant, unpleasant, and intermediate objects, it is all-pervasive. Regarding feeling, some Vaibhashikas think that what arises in all minds and mental factors is the complete cutting off of the characteristic of experiencing objects. Since they do not accept self-awareness, they completely abandon self-experience, and say that the nature of experience is to truly follow and receive the image of contact in the form of pleasant, unpleasant, and objects contrary to both. Therefore, feeling is caused by contact. But this is also unreasonable, because feeling merely follows contact, it would lead to it being dependent on contact. Minds and mental factors do not mutually cognize each other, because it would lead to the destruction of cognition itself. Therefore, feeling is the nature of experience, which only takes the distinctions of objects related to contact, that is, the nature of pleasant, unpleasant, and contrary to both, as its own, and it can also be said to be caused by contact. Moreover, since it does not arise without its own function, it is all-pervasive. Conception is, as everyone knows, it arises from the complete maturation of the verbal habit of being able to establish the elimination of others, and it engages in eliminating other objects from its own object. Since the elimination of other objects also exists in all objects to be cognized, it is all-pervasive. Attention, according to the Vaibhashikas, since all dharmas are determined to be a group of four, consciousness does not separate from other objects and direct itself to other objects, but only acts on its own object. According to the Yogacharas, it is also because the consciousness arising from the seeds of the grasped and the grasper is directed to the appearance of the grasped by the dominant condition, therefore it is called the action of the mind. This reason also arises in all places, so it is all-pervasive. Intention also manifests and acts in the form of good, non-good, and contrary to both, so it does not go beyond being all-pervasive. There is also scriptural evidence that whatever is the gathering of the three

E is touch. That which arises together with touch is feeling, mind, and consciousness, so the faculties are not different. From that which arises, attention also abides nearby, and so on. Furthermore, the Vaibhashikas ask, "Why do other pervasive mental factors such as desire, which were previously discussed, not arise?" It is because of the definiteness of the object, so pervasiveness does not exist. According to them, desire is simply the wish to do, and if it is directed towards an object, then its nature is no different from attention, so it is not regarded as such. Therefore, desire is the wish for a contemplated object. However, it does not arise in objects that are undesirable or in between, so it is not pervasive. Adhimoksha (conviction) is a special kind of conviction, which means certainty. Moreover, according to the Vaibhashikas, it also arises in a mind that is associated with doubt in a state of uncertainty, because it is fully grasping a distinct aspect from other objects. However, it is not such a nature, because it is known only by the function of consciousness. Therefore, in adhimoksha, adhimoksha is the definite grasping of a definite object from which doubt has been removed, just as it is, so it is not pervasive. Samadhi (concentration), some think, is the nature of one-pointedness, abiding for a single moment. However, it is not regarded as such, because the mind has its own abiding for a single moment. Others think that samadhi is when the mind and mental factors abandon being scattered on various objects and gather and place them on one object. However, it is not regarded as such either, because it is known only by consciousness. Therefore, samadhi is the cause of one-pointedness of mind only when a continuous stream of one, two, or three moments arises on an object to be examined. However, it does not arise on an object that is not to be examined, in a state devoid of continuity, so it is not pervasive. Dvesha (wrong view), according to the Vaibhashikas, is the clear manifestation of the mind, which is to clarify the object or grasp the characteristics.
