Strive for diligence! If you strive diligently, the mind will be able to rest in equanimity. If the mind can rest in equanimity, you will thoroughly understand things as they are. This is the necessity of order. The term 'going beyond' is the definitive term that encompasses all roots of virtue, such as the generosity of worldly beings, śrāvakas, and pratyekabuddhas, because it goes beyond them. Here, the meaning of the word 'beyond' refers to the other shore. 'Destroying miserliness and poverty' and so forth are the definitive terms for their respective distinctions. Among these, 'destroying miserliness and poverty' occurs at the time of the cause. 'Obtaining great enjoyment and a collection of merit' occurs at the time of the result. 'Corrupt morality and pacifying the lower realms' occurs at the time of the cause. 'Obtaining the happy realms and samādhi' occurs at the time of the result. Anger is the manifestation of hatred, the basis for causing immediate harm. Resentment is holding a grudge, not abandoning hatred. Exhausting these two occurs at the time of the cause. Bringing happiness to oneself and others occurs at the time of the result. The subsequent definitive terms should also be understood in the same way, as the explanation has already clearly distinguished them. Meditation is familiarization, it is taking it to heart. It is divided into five types by the distinctions of universal conduct and so forth. The application of universal conduct is called meditation, which means engaging well in generosity and so forth, such as, "Faith and so forth, generosity is particularly excellent, after respect, give at the proper time, thus it is said to give." And also, as it is said, "Even if the ability is small, practice benefiting others, do not abandon it in any way, at all times, be compatible with ability, benefit sentient beings." Liking meditation is to have faith and desire, to have complete faith in generosity and so forth, and to generate the desire for generosity and so forth, as it is said, "Even if there is no power to benefit others, always have the thought of benefiting others, whoever has this thought, he enters into its meaning." Focusing the mind in meditation is to taste the flavor, rejoice, and be delighted.

Summarized by focusing the mind, as before. Skillful means of cultivation is because it is completely captured by non-discriminating wisdom, as before. The cultivation of accomplishing activities is that those Tathagatas who possess the Dharma of complete six perfections do not need to be drawn by previous pulls, but diligently accomplish the benefit of others with generosity and so on, as appropriate. Cultivation is cultivating that itself, or cultivating for that. The sound called "Ni" is to show the difference from the cultivation of focusing the mind. The cultivation that is completely captured by the six thoughts is the thought of insatiability and so on. Although it has been very clearly distinguished by the explanation itself, a little explanation will still be given. Insatiable means not considering it enough. The so-called "At the time of obtaining it, considering one moment as one moment" means that if those three countless periods of time become one moment, then such a moment of time, until Bodhi, in each moment, and so on, the meaning of these words is just terminology. The so-called "completely filled with fire" means not having a place. The so-called "even if not possessing all the equipment" means that it is irremediable, and possessing equipment is to try to remedy suffering. Mentioning the four postures is to show that it is extremely vast, and even if one does not have a place and equipment, one also manifests the perfections such as discipline through these four postures. The so-called "long time" is to not interrupt for a long time. To persuade with the intention of benefiting is the virtuous friend of the Bodhisattva and so on. The so-called "the fruit of desire ripens" is to make the fruit of desire ripen. The so-called "thought of great self-nature" is the thought of having great self-nature. The so-called "whoever dedicates to make me rich, his thought is small, to feed himself." The so-called "whoever dedicates for the benefit of all sentient beings, his greatness is because it is the occasion to benefit others." Goodness is without fault.
