And the continuum arising from the mind is completely purified. In order to attain the three bodies of the Buddha, it will be explained below. From the special stages, there are ten kinds, and so on. The difference in object is that Bodhisattvas take the Dharma of the Great Vehicle as their object with the three wisdoms arising from hearing, etc., but not the Dharma of the Hearer Vehicle. The accumulations of merit are generosity, discipline, and patience, etc. The accumulation of wisdom is hearing, etc. By accumulating these for countless eons, this special feature is shown, thereby causing Bodhisattvas to generate the power of the direct realization of Bodhisattvas. The difference in realization is that Hearers only directly realize the selflessness of the person. Bodhisattvas directly realize the selflessness of both person and phenomena. The difference in Nirvana is that Bodhisattvas have non-abiding Nirvana, because wisdom and compassion are completely grasped by skillful means, and they do not abide in the extremes of samsara and Nirvana. Hearers abide in unconditioned Nirvana. The difference in grounds is that Bodhisattvas will definitely experience the ten grounds. For Hearers, there is no establishment of grounds. The difference in complete purification is that Bodhisattvas abandon even the afflictions along with their imprints, and the Buddha's field is also purified like the nature of gold, etc. Hearers do not abandon along with their imprints, nor is the Buddha's field completely purified. Imprints refer to that which, even though afflictions have been eliminated, still causes agitation as if with afflictions. The difference in attaining the equality of all sentient beings and one's own mind is that Bodhisattvas, because they have attained the equality of self and others, constantly engage in practice to ripen all sentient beings. Hearers differentiate between self and others, and only practice for their own benefit, not for the benefit of others. The difference in birth is that Bodhisattvas are born into the realm of Dharma of the Tathagata lineage and become Buddhas, just like a young man born into the lineage of a Chakravartin king who is endowed with marks.

It is like that. The Shravakas are not like that, they are like the sons of low-caste slaves. The difference in arising is that Bodhisattvas are born miraculously, sitting in the lotus posture in the heart of a lotus, and until they attain Buddhahood, they are always born in the mandalas of the Tathagata's retinue. The mandala of the Buddha's retinue is the realm of the unpolluted, the realm of the Buddha. Shravakas are born from the womb, like ordinary people. The difference in fruit is that the fruit of the Bodhisattva is the attainment of the Dharmakaya, which is endowed with a collection of qualities such as power, spontaneously accomplished, and able to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings. The fruit of the other is the unborn with defilements. In order to easily understand the search and its fruit, it is summarized in two verses. "Name and object, the two mutually, Universally seek as adventitious." This means that for name, the object is adventitious, and for object, the name is also adventitious. It is not like some who think that sound and meaning are always related, and are co-emergent, etc. Just seek it there. Where to seek? It is said to seek in the two kinds of imputation, namely, the imputation of self-nature and the imputation of difference. How to seek? That is, connect the sentence "This is only imputation, it is only a designation, there is no imputation of self-nature and difference here." By truly knowing, with these four universal searches. "Without meaning" means separated from meaning. "Three distinctions" means distinguishing in name, distinguishing in the imputation of self-nature, and distinguishing in the imputation of difference. "Because of that absence" means because of the absence of meaning. "Without meaning" means not seeing the three distinctions. "Entering the three" means entering the three self-natures. With the first half of the first verse, seeing that name and object are mutually adventitious, one enters the self-nature of the completely imputed. With the second half of the first verse, self-nature and difference are merely distinctions.
